PHP Backend Developer

This is an excellent position for a highly capable software engineer who's ready to take on ample responsibilities. This role will be involved in every aspect of the stack of software products and will be responsible for continually shipping code, contributing to building amazing products and helping scale cutting edge tech solutions from the ground up. The PHP Backend Developer will report to the CTO directly, and will integrate with our existing dev team. The position is full-time in a hybrid remote work basis, this means that periodic attendance in person is expected in the Monterrey metropolitan area for meet ups, collaboration sessions and client visits. Key Responsibilities Develop software requirements taking into account best practices, standards and enterprise architecture.Work collaboratively and communicate effectively.Responsible with self-management of time and deadlines.Participate in code reviews to receive guidance on strategies that minimize implementation risk and/or improve system reliability and performance.Proactively keep up with state-of-the-art practices, architectures, frameworks, libraries, etc. Required Experience & Skills 2+ years of backend software engineering experience with PHP 7+.Experience with PHP frameworks such as Symfony or Laravel.Ability to effectively use version control (git) in collaborative codebases.Strong knowledge of CS fundamentals and code organization.An understanding of front-end web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript).An understanding of relational databases, preferably MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.Fluent in English, both spoken and technical writing. Desired Skills Experience working in Unix, specifically Ubuntu Server.Deep understanding of database internals, how to monitor the engine's performance and query optimization.Being comfortable working in terminal-only (cli) environments.Experience running services in AWS or another cloud / IaaS provider.Server scripting to automate deployment processes.
