Full Stack Cloud Developer

We're helping a Victoria based Dementia charity hire a Full Stack Cloud Developer (React / Azure / TypeScript). This is a VOLUNTEER role that we expect will take 3-6 weeks depending on how much time you have to commit to this project. This project is mission critical to the charity in its plans to grow, you will be playing a key role in the future growth of this charity that impacts so many lives! We provide vital social support, evidence-based care-and-share sessions, and community connections for people living with dementia, their family carers, and dedicated volunteers. About the Role & Project Context We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer to maintain, expand, and optimize the UDC Operations Hub as a mission-critical, cloud-native platform powering our national network. You will work on a modern, serverless architecture that connects ground-level cafe session operations, volunteer management, member onboarding, impact analytics, and executive governance. The platform emphasizes strict cloud security (Zero-Trust, server-side Graph API RBAC), server-side SQL optimization, and an accessible, high-aesthetic interface tailored for older adults, carers, and field coordinators. Key Responsibilities Frontend Development: Build and maintain responsive, highly accessible React (TypeScript) interfaces using modern UI design principles, tailored for diverse user personas (Coordinators, Carers, Volunteers, Board Members, and Executives).Backend & Serverless API: Develop secure, stateless serverless backend endpoints (Azure Static Web Apps Functions in Node.js/TypeScript) enforcing server-side pagination, search debouncing, and data minimization.Database Architecture & Optimization: Design, optimize, and execute parameterized T-SQL queries against Azure SQL Database, ensuring row-level security boundaries and preventing data exposure.Identity & Access Management: Maintain Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) SSO authentication and server-side Microsoft Graph API client credential integrations to map Active Directory security groups directly to application roles.AI Integration & Security: Maintain and expand secure server-side AI proxy services to deliver automated insights while keeping API keys and tenant data protected.Cloud Operations & DevOps: Manage environment secrets via Azure Key Vault, support CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions / Azure SWA CLI), and maintain zero-trust security practices.Functional & Security Testing: Establish, write, and maintain automated unit testing, API endpoint integration testing, end-to-end (E2E) workflow verification, and vulnerability scanning across frontend and backend builds. Required Experience & Technical Skills Frontend Mastery: 3+ years of commercial experience with React, TypeScript, and modern build tooling (Vite). Deep understanding of state management, component modularity, and input debouncing.Backend & Serverless: Strong experience building RESTful APIs using Node.js / TypeScript on serverless cloud architectures (Azure Functions or AWS Lambda).Database & SQL: Solid experience with Azure SQL / MS SQL Server, writing optimized parameterized T-SQL queries, server-side pagination (OFFSET / FETCH NEXT), and database aggregation.Cloud & Identity Security: Practical knowledge of OAuth 2.0 / OIDC, Microsoft Entra ID (MSAL), and role-based access control (RBAC).Accessibility & UX Design: Demonstrated commitment to accessibility (WCAG standards), responsive layouts, and intuitive user experiences for non-technical or elderly users. Highly Regarded (Bonus Points) Experience with Microsoft Graph API (App-only client credentials flow & transitive directory queries).Familiarity with Azure Managed Identities and Azure Key Vault configuration.Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs into enterprise backend workflows.Background in health tech, non-profit/charity platforms, or aged care sector software.
