The Role We are seeking an experienced Software Developer (Golang & AWS) to join a high-performing technology team delivering modern cloud-native applications and backend services within an AWS environment. This role will focus on designing, developing, and supporting scalable microservices, serverless applications, and API-driven solutions using Go (Golang) and AWS-native technologies. Working alongside architects, developers, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders, you will contribute to the delivery of secure, reliable, and high-performing software solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and microservices using Go (Golang)Develop and support serverless solutions leveraging AWS Lambda and other AWS-native servicesDesign and optimise data models and access patterns using Amazon DynamoDBDevelop and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven applicationsImplement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CDParticipate in solution design, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making activitiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business and technology outcomesPerform code reviews and champion software engineering best practicesIdentify and resolve performance, scalability, reliability, and security issuesCreate and maintain technical documentation and design artefactsProvide operational support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for production environments What You'll Need Strong commercial experience developing software using Go (Golang)Hands-on experience working within AWS cloud environmentsExperience building and supporting serverless applicationsStrong experience with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, and S3Strong understanding of microservices and distributed system architecturesExperience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIsExperience using GitLab for source control, branching strategies, and CI/CD automationKnowledge of software engineering principles, testing methodologies, and clean coding practicesStrong understanding of NoSQL database design, performance tuning, and scalability considerationsExperience working within Agile delivery environmentsExcellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills Desirable Experience Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormationExperience with Docker and Kubernetes containerisation technologiesExposure to event-driven architectures and messaging services including SNS, SQS, EventBridge, or KafkaExperience with observability, monitoring, and logging platformsExperience delivering large-scale data migration projects, including transformation and reconciliation activitiesExperience with Augur or similar cloud governance, reporting, or analytics platformsRelevant AWS certificationsPrevious experience working within consulting, enterprise, or government environments Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline5-15 years' experience in software engineering, backend development, or cloud-native application developmentDemonstrated experience delivering production-grade Golang solutions within AWS environmentsStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilitiesA collaborative mindset and commitment to delivering high-quality technology outcomes
