About the Role Our Java Backend Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining robust, scalable systems that support our web applications and internal services, ensuring reliability, performance, and security. This professional will play a key role in building and optimising the systems that power our products and services, enabling efficient integration between frontend and backend. We are looking for someone with critical thinking, autonomy, and a passion for clean, well-structured code — motivated to tackle technical challenges and collaborate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Your Responsibilities Develop efficient, high-performance Java backend systems to power iCliGo’s products; Design and implement SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring optimised storage and smooth data flow; Build and maintain a microservices architecture, enhancing resilience and scalability of our backend; Collaborate with frontend, product, and design teams to ensure seamless integration between interfaces and business logic; Ensure best practices in version control, testing, and code documentation; Integrate automated testing frameworks and security protocols to keep our systems robust and secure; Actively contribute in agile development processes, driving continuous improvement of solutions and workflows. What We’re Looking For Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related fields 5+ years of experience as a Backend Developer Strong knowledge of Portuguese and English Proven experience in backend development with Java/Spring (one or more languages within this stack) Solid knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases Familiarity with microservices architectures, cloud environments, and containerised architectures for building resilient, scalable systems Understanding of domain-driven design, event sourcing, and reactive programming, with a strong security mindset Experience with version control tools such as Git Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in dynamic environments Strong communication skills and team spirit.
