What You'll Be Doing As a Senior Rails Engineer with a platform and infrastructure focus, you'll be instrumental in shaping both our platform and the infrastructure that powers it. Your responsibilities will include: Designing and building RESTful APIs for our front-end applications and partnersIntegrating with a range of external services such as Salesforce, Auth0, Cloudflare, and moreArchitecting solutions that meet our high availability, security, and performance requirementsBuilding and maintaining our cloud infrastructure to support rapid growth, with an emphasis on automation, repeatability, and cost efficiencyOwning CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows to help the team ship safely and oftenManaging infrastructure-as-code so our environments are consistent, version-controlled, and easy to maintainImproving observability across the stack — logging, metrics, alerting, and tracing — so we can catch issues before our customers doStrengthening the reliability and security posture of our systems, from incident response to proactive hardeningWriting well-structured, tested, and documented code that's a pleasure to maintainWorking closely with our Product, Design, and other teams to refine deliverables and bring new features to life What We're Looking For We're seeking a passionate backend engineer who enjoys working close to the infrastructure, can solve complex technical problems, and communicates solutions with ease. Required Experience: Minimum 5 years of commercial Ruby on Rails experienceComfortable leveraging AI-assisted tooling (Claude Code, Cursor etc) into your development workflow to accelerate deliveryProven experience integrating with external APIsDatabase design and performance tuning, particularly with PostgreSQLDesigning, deploying, and maintaining production-grade infrastructure with AWSExperience with Infrastructure-as-code tooling e.g. Terraform / OpenTofuExperience with security hardening and compliance in cloud-based environmentObservability and monitoring tooling e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana or similarExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelinesStrong written and verbal communication skillsBonus Points: Experience with containerisation and orchestration e.g DockerExperience with security best practices (e.g., OWASP, STRIDE)Experience in high-volume production environments with strict availability SLAsExperience with deploying environments across multiple regionsExperience navigating GDPR and/or SOC2 regulationsKnowledge of the financial services industryA computer science degree Benefits & Culture We're a remote-friendly team, but if you prefer an office environment, our Surry Hills space is open, dog-friendly, and empowering.
