Salary: Up to €100,000 depending on experience Location: Paris Working pattern: Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite in the Paris office I'm searching looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a small, high-performing engineering team building scalable backend services, reliable workflows, and systems that process large volumes of financial data. This is an opportunity to work on real engineering challenges, taking ownership of backend features while helping shape the architecture of a modern, AI-enabled platform. What you'll be doing Design, build and maintain backend services using PythonDeliver production-ready features from design through to deploymentBuild and evolve APIs and microservicesDesign efficient data models and optimise PostgreSQL queriesInvestigate and resolve performance and scalability challengesWork closely with Product and Frontend teams to deliver new functionalityContribute to system architecture and engineering best practicesWrite clean, well-tested, maintainable code and mentor other engineers where appropriateEmbrace AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity What we're looking for 5+ years' experience developing backend applications with PythonExperience with Flask, FastAPI or another modern Python frameworkStrong understanding of APIs, microservices and distributed systemsExperience with PostgreSQL, SQL optimisation and data modellingStrong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms and problem-solvingComfortable discussing concepts such as recursion, graph traversal and computational complexityExperience building scalable, production-grade backend systemsFamiliarity with AWS and cloud-native developmentExperience using AI development tools such as Claude, Cursor or GitHub Copilot is highly desirable Tech Stack PythonFastAPI (Flask experience also welcomed)PostgreSQLAWSDockerMicroservicesPydantic What's on offer Competitive salary and equityA collaborative, high-performing engineering teamReal ownership and influence over technical decisionsOpportunity to work on AI-powered products solving complex backend and scalability challengesExposure to modern backend architecture and AI-assisted software development
