Description
We are seeking TWO experienced Senior DevOps Engineers to support a major government ICT transformation program.
This hands-on role will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining secure, automated software delivery and infrastructure deployment capabilities within a cloud-first Azure environment.
Working closely with developers, cloud engineers, solution architects and cyber security specialists, the successful candidate will establish and support DevSecOps practices that enable reliable, scalable and compliant application delivery.
The role will play a key part in application migration, modernisation and continuous improvement initiatives across the program
You MUST be an Australian citizen and possess a minimum of an NV1 security clearance to be considered for these roles
You MUST also be able to work in the Canberra office at least 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support secure, automated and repeatable application and infrastructure deployments.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using modern cloud automation practices
.• Embed DevSecOps controls and automated security validation within delivery pipelines.
• Implement and maintain source control, branching, release management and environment management processes.
• Develop and support build, deployment and testing automation across multiple applications and environments.
• Monitor pipeline health, deployment performance and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with cloud, security, networking and application teams to deliver scalable, resilient and compliant solutions.
• Support application migration and modernisation activities through automation and deployment engineering
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex build, deployment and environment-related issues.
• Contribute to engineering standards, reusable templates, deployment patterns and platform automation capabilities.
Skills and Experience:
• Demonstrated experience implementing DevOps and CI/CD practices within large enterprise or government environments.
• Strong experience designing and maintaining automated deployment pipelines.
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, Terraform, ARM templates or equivalent technologies
• Experience integrating security, compliance and quality assurance controls into delivery pipelines.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native application delivery and operational practices
• Experience working with Agile delivery teams and modern software engineering practices
• Strong troubleshooting, automation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Technical Skills:
Experience across a significant proportion of the following technologies:
• DevOps & Automation (Azure DevOps, Git, YAML Pipelines, CI/CD Automation, PowerShell,
Azure CLI)
• Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform, ARM Templates)
• Azure Platform (Azure App Services, Azure Storage, API management, Azure SQL, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics)
• Security & DevSecOps (Microsoft Entra ID, Managed Identities, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Azure Policy, Secure Software Development Practices)
Desirable Experience:
• Application migration and modernisation programs.
• Secure cloud environments aligned to ASD ISM, Essential Eight and Zero Trust
principles.
• Observability, monitoring and operational engineering practices.
