About The Role As a (Senior) Public Cloud Engineer (m/w/d), you will play a vital role in expanding and optimizing the company's cloud infrastructure, with a particular focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud architectures that support the migration and operation of workloads in a secure, scalable, and automated manner. Working within an interdisciplinary agile team, you will leverage your expertise to develop infrastructure as code using Terraform, ensuring efficient deployment and management of cloud resources. Your contributions will directly influence the company's ability to innovate and adapt in a rapidly evolving technological landscape, supporting strategic initiatives to enhance cloud capabilities and operational excellence. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a relevant IT degree or an equivalent qualification complemented by substantial experience in public cloud environments, particularly GCP, AWS, or Azure. Proficiency in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is essential, along with experience using version control systems such as GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket. Familiarity with Linux and Windows server administration, networking, load balancers, and containerization technologies like Docker is required. Basic scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, and Python are also important. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to define clear responsibilities, work collaboratively across teams, and adapt to new challenges. Knowledge of industry standards, security protocols, regulatory compliance, especially within insurance and financial sectors, is advantageous. Certifications in cloud technologies are preferred, and the company offers support for certification pursuits. Strong communication skills in German and English, along with team-oriented and proactive problem-solving abilities, are essential attributes. Responsibilities Design, support, and operate cloud architectures to facilitate workload migrations to Google Cloud Platform, ensuring high availability and security standards.Continuously develop and enhance the Google Cloud environment, with an emphasis on virtual machine management and optimization using Compute Engine.Create and implement comprehensive frameworks for cloud infrastructure and application deployment, ensuring best practices and operational efficiency.Prioritize and manage requirements within the backlog and roadmap for virtual machine platforms, aligning development efforts with business needs.Engage closely with technical product owners to promote the benefits of cloud migration, providing expert advice and support to facilitate application transitions.Establish standardized processes and mechanisms for cloud operations, offering guidance during implementation and go-live phases of workloads.Utilize modern automation tools and methodologies for deployment (CI/CD), infrastructure management, and continuous improvement of cloud services.
