Backend Software Engineer (Go) — Autoscoring Software 📍 Remote / Hybrid - 1 day a week in Reading Our client are a world-renowned leader in their sport, with a proud heritage dating back nearly a century. Their brands are synonymous with innovation, quality, and performance, and they're recognized globally by a dedicated community of players. Recently backed by a leading private equity firm, they're entering an exciting new phase of strategic growth and transformation as they build the tech that's taking their sport online. Their Autoscoring platform uses cameras to detect play in real time, powering online competition, live stats, and training tools for a growing global community of players. They're looking for a Backend Software Engineer to help them scale the Go microservices platform behind it all. What you'll be doing Designing and building Go microservices running on KubernetesBuilding well-designed, scalable REST APIsCreating and evolving database schemasWriting automated tests and owning services through their production lifecycleWorking closely with our frontend, mobile, product, and hardware teams to ship features end to endSharing knowledge through code reviews and pair programming What we're looking for 5+ years commercial programming experience (Ideally with 2+ years with Go but open to similar programming experience)Solid grounding in Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CDComfortable with REST API design, SQL, and microservices architectureExperience with test automation, unit and end-to-end testingCloud experience (any major provider), Git, and Agile ways of workingA collaborative mindset — happy to pair program and work cross-functionally Nice to have A Computer Science degreeSports or gaming industry experienceHetzner cloud knowledgeMachine learning exposureFamiliarity with JavaScript/React (handy for working with our frontend team) Why join them Be at the forefront of technology in sportFlexible hybrid working and a high degree of autonomyWork directly with a seasoned CPO, CTO, and our technology investorsJoin at a pivotal moment as a legacy brand scales into a digitally connected future Sound like you?
