Job Title: DevOps Engineer - McLean, VA (5 days onsite)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with a strong AWS and Kubernetes background to support cloud-native platform engineering, CI/CD automation, and application delivery.
This role requires hands-on experience with Rafay for Kubernetes operations and multi-cluster management.
Candidates with strong experience in comparable Kubernetes management platforms, such as Rancher, Red Hat OpenShift, VMware Tanzu, or Amazon EKS, may be considered if they can demonstrate the ability to rapidly become productive with Rafay.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage and operate Kubernetes environments using Rafay, including multi-cluster lifecycle management, access controls, governance, namespaces, policies, and application deployments.
· Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
· Automate infrastructure, deployment, operational, and integration tasks using Python.
· Deploy and operate cloud-native applications on AWS, primarily in Amazon EKS environments.
· Configure and support Istio service mesh capabilities, including traffic management, ingress, mTLS, authorization policies, observability, and resilience patterns.
· Implement secure, repeatable deployment processes across development, test, staging, and production environments.
· Collaborate with application, QA, security, platform, and cloud infrastructure teams to improve release quality and delivery velocity.
· Troubleshoot Kubernetes, container, AWS networking, CI/CD, and production deployment issues.
· Establish and enforce operational standards for availability, security, monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response.
· Document platform configurations, deployment processes, runbooks, and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
· 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or a related discipline.
· Strong experience with AWS services including Amazon EKS, EC2, IAM, VPC, Subnets, Route Tables/Routing, Security Groups, Load Balancers, S3, CloudWatch, Route 53, Secrets Management, Encryption Services, and Kubernetes administration including cluster and workload operations, Helm and manifest-based deployments, RBAC, Service Accounts, Namespaces, Resource Quotas, Network Policies, Ingress, Services, DNS, Container Networking, and troubleshooting of Pods, Deployments, Nodes, and cluster-level issues.
· Hands-on experience with Rafay for Kubernetes platform or multi-cluster operations.
· Candidates with strong production experience in Rancher, OpenShift, Tanzu, or comparable Kubernetes management platforms may be considered where Rafay experience is limited.
· Experience developing and maintaining Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines.
· Proficiency in Python for scripting, API integrations, automation, and operational tooling.
· Hands-on experience with Istio or a comparable service-mesh technology.
· Experience with Docker, Git, container registries, and Linux administration.
· Strong understanding of cloud and Kubernetes security practices, including secrets management, IAM, least-privilege access, vulnerability remediation, and policy enforcement.
