Junior Software Developer

Armundia Luxembourg is looking for a Junior Software Developer to join a growing international team working on Java, React, data-driven and AI-enabled solutions. About Armundia Armundia Group designs and develops software platforms and digital solutions for banking, asset management, private banking and insurance. Since 2023, our Luxembourg branch has been expanding rapidly, combining the energy of a growing local team with the experience and capabilities of an established international technology group. Role Overview Under the guidance of the Technical Team Leader and with the support of senior developers, you will contribute to the design, development, testing and maintenance of business applications. The role is primarily focused on Java and React, with the opportunity to participate in AI-related initiatives and prototypes where your curiosity and initial hands-on experience can make a real difference. Key Responsibilities • Support the development and maintenance of Java-based applications. • Contribute to the development of front-end components using React. • Collaborate with senior developers, business analysts and testers to implement new functionalities. • Support the integration of front-end applications with REST APIs, back-end services and relational databases. • Assist with testing, debugging, defect analysis and resolution of technical issues. • Use Redmine or Jira to manage assigned tasks, defects and development activities. • Write clear and maintainable code, following team standards and guidance from more experienced colleagues. • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and knowledge-sharing activities. • Contribute to technical documentation and application manuals. • Support AI-related experiments or product features, including API integration, document-processing workflows, semantic search or other Generative AI use cases. Required Technical Skills • Basic knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming principles. • Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases. • Basic understanding of web applications, REST APIs and web services. • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. • Initial familiarity with React or another modern front-end framework. • Familiarity with Git or another version-control tool. • Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle. AI & Emerging Technologies — Strong Plus AI expertise is not mandatory, but we are especially interested in candidates who have already explored these technologies through academic work, internships, personal projects, hackathons or initial professional experience. • Practical familiarity with Generative AI or Large Language Models, even at an introductory level. • Experience using an LLM API or building a small AI-enabled application, prototype or university project. • Basic understanding of prompt engineering, embeddings, semantic search or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). • Interest in AI agents, document extraction, intelligent search, copilots or workflow automation. • Basic knowledge of Python and common data-processing or AI libraries. • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and an understanding of their responsible use. • Ability to explain an AI project or experiment you have built, tested or contributed to. Other Preferred Technical Skills • Familiarity with Java Enterprise applications and multi-tier architectures. • Basic knowledge of testing and API tools such as JUnit or Postman. • Familiarity with Redmine, Jira or similar ticketing tools. • Basic understanding of Agile development methodologies. • Interest in financial systems, banking processes or FinTech applications. Personal Skills • Strong willingness to learn and develop new technical skills. • Curiosity about software development, AI and emerging technologies. • Analytical thinking and a practical approach to problem-solving. • Ability to collaborate effectively and ask for support when needed. • Proactive, responsible and detail-oriented attitude. • Openness to experimentation, feedback and continuous improvement. General Requirements • 1-2 years of experience in related fields • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. • Fluent English is mandatory. • Knowledge of Italian or French is considered a plus.
