Software Engineer

We are looking for a Mid to Senior Software Engineer to join a growing product team building a genuinely greenfield platform. This is a role for someone who enjoys solving problems rather than just picking up tickets. You'll work closely with Product, Design and Engineering to understand the problem, challenge assumptions where needed, and build solutions that have a real impact. The team is also AI-forward in how they build software. AI-assisted development, coding agents and new tooling are already part of the engineering workflow, with the team looking at how AI can be embedded into the product itself. What you'll be doing Building and shipping new functionality across a greenfield productWorking closely with Product and Engineering to turn complex problems into simple, scalable solutionsTaking ownership of features from early discussions through to productionContributing to technical decisions, architecture and engineering standardsBuilding reliable, well-tested software with performance and maintainability in mindWorking across backend systems, APIs, data and integrationsGetting involved in production, deployment and improving the way the team builds and ships softwareUsing AI tooling thoughtfully to accelerate development while maintaining strong engineering judgementHelping shape the engineering culture and technical foundations as the team continues to growWhat we're looking for We're open on your exact background and technology stack. You might have experience with: Ruby on RailsTypeScript / Node.jsElixirOr another functional programming language or modern backend technologyMore importantly, you'll be someone who: Has solid commercial software engineering experienceEnjoys getting stuck into ambiguous and challenging problemsThinks beyond the ticket and considers the wider product and systemWorks well in a collaborative product engineering environmentIs comfortable challenging ideas and contributing to technical decisionsCares about writing clean, maintainable and well-tested codeHas a genuine interest in AI and how it is changing the way software is builtWants to take ownership and have a meaningful influence on what gets builtExperience with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, AWS, PostgreSQL, React/TypeScript or high-volume systems would be beneficial, but the right mindset and problem-solving ability are more important than ticking every technology box. Salary can go up to $165,000 + Super Sydney based - 4 days in office - CBD location Full working rights required
