Our subsidiary, Hogrefe Digital Solutions GmbH, develops the Hogrefe Test System (HTS), a web platform for comprehensive psychological online assessments.

We are looking for a full-time Software Engineer (m/f/d) to strengthen our partner enablement team.
The position can also be filled on a part-time basis.
In this role, you'll build API-first solutions that enable external partners to seamlessly integrate Hogrefe's assessment portfolio into their own products and workflows.
You'll design secure, scalable and developer-friendly APIs that create lasting value for a growing ecosystem of partners.
What will you be doing?
Design, build, and maintain API-first integration solutions that enable external partners to consume Hogrefe's test portfolioDevelop productized software capabilities — reusable, well-documented, and supportable at scale rather than one-off integrationsCollaborate with colleagues to architect and implement backend services primarily in Java, with API design best practices (REST/versioning/documentation) at the coreEnsure APIs meet performance requirements under partner-scale load and usage patternsImplement and uphold security standards for external-facing APIs (authentication, authorization, data protection)Design easy-to-use developer-facing capabilities (SDKs, documentation, sandbox/testing tools) to reduce partner integration frictionCollaborate cross-functionally with product, security, and partner-facing teams to align technical solutions with business impact goalsSupport and troubleshoot partner integrations, addressing technical issues that arise during onboarding and ongoing usageContribute to the evolution of the partner enablement platform's architecture and roadmapEvaluate and adopt relevant tooling/frameworks to support integration or tooling needs
Who are you?
Strong hands-on experience as a Java developer, with a solid foundation in backend/API developmentExperience with the Spring Boot or similar frameworks is appreciated, but not mandatoryPractical experience optimizing API performance (latency, throughput, load handling)Proven expertise in API design principles (REST, versioning, documentation standards like Open-API/Swagger) is idealSolid understanding of API security practices (OAuth/OIDC, authentication, authorization, data protection)Experience building scalable, production-grade backend systemsUnderstanding of what makes integrations easy-to-use for external/third-party developersFamiliarity with modern CI/CD and version control practices (Git, deployment pipelines)Experience with TypeScript is nice to haveExperience working with or enabling external partners/customers, ideally in a platform or integration contextNice to have: experience with TypeScriptStrong communication skills — able to work across internal teams and represent technical solutions to external partnersGood written and spoken English; German is an advantage
