he GraphQL (GQL) Developer is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting scalable API and integration solutions using GraphQL and Java technologies.
The role will work closely with application, platform, cloud, and architecture teams to deliver secure, high-performing, and reusable services that enable digital modernization and cloud-native application development across the portfolio.
This position will contribute to the development of modern microservices-based architectures, API governance, integration patterns, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting operational excellence within a managed services environment.
Design, develop, and maintain GraphQL APIs and Java-based backend services.
Build reusable, scalable, and secure GraphQL schemas, resolvers, and data access layers.
Develop REST and GraphQL integrations with enterprise applications, databases, and external systems.
Implement microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native development patterns.
Optimize API performance, query execution, caching, and payload efficiency.
Ensure adherence to API security standards including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
Participate in application modernization initiatives including microservices transformation and cloud adoption.
Collaborate with Cloud, Platform Engineering, and Architecture teams to implement scalable integration solutions.
Support application onboarding onto cloud platforms and containerized environments.
Assist in designing integration patterns and reusable service frameworks.
Support SLA-driven production environments and participate in incident, problem, and change management activities.
Perform root cause analysis and remediation of application and integration issues.
Monitor application performance and implement proactive improvement Contribute to architecture reviews, technical governance, and development standards.
Maintain development runbooks, operational procedures, and support documentation.
Define and maintain cloud architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and design patterns across the portfolio.
Develop cloud transformation and modernization roadmaps aligned to business and technology strategy Lead solution architecture reviews and provide governance for cloud implementations across projects and programs.
Design and govern AWS infrastructure and platform services including EKS, EC2, VPC, Route53, Transit Gateway, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch, and related services.
Establish secure cloud architecture patterns incorporating Identity and Access Management (IAM), encryption, secrets management, network segmentation, and security best practices.
Drive application modernization initiatives including containerization, cloud-native architectures, microservices adoption, and serverless computing.
Collaborate with Cyber Security teams to ensure compliance with enterprise, government, and regulatory requirements.
Identify technology risks, technical debt, and improvement opportunities, and establish remediation roadmaps
Your responsibilities will also include gathering system and user requirements, building modules and testing features before release.
You must have hands-on experience developing, deploying, and maintaining functional, secure and high-quality applications.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Experience working in SLA-driven / managed services (BAU) environments with incident, problem, and change management practices.
Strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, GraphQL, and REST API development.
Expertise in GraphQL schema design, resolvers, queries, mutations, and API security.
Experience building and supporting microservices and integrating enterprise applications.
Knowledge of AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native development practices.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
Strong SQL and database experience (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.).
Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, ELK, or CloudWatch.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience creating technical designs, API specifications, use cases, and knowledge repositories.
