Description

Most candidates never get interviewed. They don't make it past the resume screen, so no one ever hears what they can actually do. Cayde makes the first round cheap enough that hiring teams can interview far more people. Interviews run asynchronously, evaluated against criteria the team defines, with every score traced back to what the candidate actually said. Cayde is part of Codeit, a Korean talent infrastructure company that grew from edtech into hiring technology. Roughly $27M revenue this year and profitable, so we're not building against a runway. As our first engineering hire in North America, you'll work directly with the founders to build the product here. The core platform, meaning the interview engine, scoring, and evaluation infrastructure, is primarily built and maintained by our team in Korea. Your job is to make the product work in North America. That means ATS integrations, compliance that holds up across multiple regions, and a product built for how hiring actually works in each region. You'll also own the conversion funnel, which is how interest becomes revenue. The role is based in downtown Toronto. You'll own frontend, backend, and infrastructure, and there's no platform team to hand things to. We're looking for a builder. Knowing things isn't the differentiator anymore. We want someone who can take a problem from conversation to shipped product on their own, and build it well enough that it scales and sells. What you'll do Ship customer-facing product end to end, from interface to API to data model to deployBuild and own our integrations: ATS connections, webhooks, partner APIsBuild compliance into the productOwn the infrastructure our product runs on here, including deployment, monitoring, and reliabilityOwn the conversion funnel, from the website through to activationWork directly with the Korean platform team on what to share, what to fork, and what to build freshTurn what customers tell us into shipped changes without waiting for a roadmap cycleSet the engineering conventions, including testing, review, and on-call, for the people we hire after you What we're looking for Enough production experience that you've shipped, operated, and fixed things people depend on. We don't have a years requirement. If you've done more in two years than most people do in five, we'd rather find out in the interviewReal depth on both sides of the stack, plus enough infrastructure to deploy and operate what you buildYou work with AI as a serious part of how you build, and you've moved past the demo stage. You know where it accelerates you and where it quietly costs you timeStrong judgment about what you accept from a model and what you rewrite yourself. We care much more about how you review code than how fast you generate itComfortable being the only engineer on a problem and deciding what "good enough to ship" meansAble to work with a product team in Korea, including occasional overlap with Korean business hours Nice to have Experience with LLM-based products in production, especially evaluation or scoringBuilt integrations against ATS or HR systems (Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, BambooHR, etc.)Early engineer at an early-stage startup What we offer Strong ownership of the North American product as our first engineer hereDirect work with the founding team on product and technical directionA working product with paying customers, not a blank repo$110,000โ€“$160,000 CAD depending on experience Details Full-time, on-site in downtown TorontoIndustry: AI / HR tech / B2B SaaS
