Mid-Level Software Engineer

The Role We're looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer ready to take on meaningful work across our stack and grow into greater ownership over time. You'll work in our existing codebase alongside senior engineers, contributing to real features from the start while continuing to sharpen your craft. We value engineers who bring a point of view and aren't afraid to ask why something is done a certain way — or to suggest a better one. Just as important is how you engage: clearly, constructively, and open to having your own approach challenged in return. What You'll Do Build and ship features and fixes across our stack — a NestJS and GraphQL back end, with React/Next.js and TypeScript on the front endWork within the codebase as it exists today, improving it as you goTake defined problems and see them through to shipped, maintainable solutions, with support from the team where you need itParticipate in code reviews — both giving feedback and acting on the feedback you receiveContribute to technical discussions and share your perspective on how things should be builtDocument your work so the wider team benefits What We're Looking For 2+ years building and shipping production softwareWorking experience with NestJS and GraphQL, or a strong foundation in similar backend frameworks and API patterns and the ability to get up to speed quickly — this is central to our stackSolid JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals — command of the language matters more to us than any single framework. Experience with Angular, Vue, or comparable front-end frameworks translates well; our front end is React/Next.js.The ability to work independently on well-scoped tasks, while knowing when to ask for inputA willingness to move into unfamiliar parts of the system and figure them outComfort in a Linux/bash environment and with Git-based workflows Bonus Points Fintech, payments, or BNPL experienceExperience designing GraphQL schemas and APIsAWS exposure, infrastructure-as-code (OpenTofu/Terraform), or containerized deployments (Docker/ECS)CI/CD experience, ideally with GitLabSQL / PostgreSQL backgroundSecurity- or compliance-conscious development (SOC 2, PCI, or similar) What You'll Get Real ownership on a small team, across multiple products, with room to growA modern, cloud-native stack and experienced engineers to learn fromColleagues who will engage seriously with your ideas and then help build themCompetitive salary and benefits Compensation & Location Salary range $100,000–$130,000, depending on experienceBased in Minneapolis, MN.
