We are seeking an experienced IBM API Connect (APIC) Developer to design, develop, secure, and manage APIs using IBM’s API Connect platform.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in API lifecycle management, integration with backend services, and enforcing API security policies.
This role requires strong problem-solving skills, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and deep understanding of modern API and microservices architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain APIs using IBM API Connect (APIC) and related technologies.Manage the full API lifecycle: planning, design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and retirement.Configure and manage API Gateway policies (security, throttling, rate limiting, transformations, etc.).Integrate APIs with backend systems such as databases, SOAP/REST services, and microservices.Ensure compliance with API security standards (OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS, SAML, etc.).Work with DevOps teams to integrate APIs into CI/CD pipelines.Monitor API usage, troubleshoot performance issues, and optimize for scalability.Document APIs and provide developer-friendly portals for external/internal consumers.Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
3–5 years of hands-on experience with IBM API Connect (APIC) and DataPower Gateway.Strong knowledge of REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, and API design best practices.Proficiency in API security protocols (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, LDAP, SAML).Experience in JavaScript, Node.js, Java, or Python for backend API development.Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized environments (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker).Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
