🚀 Software Engineer | Python & SQL | Commodities Trading Location: London - 3 days a week Salary: up to £70k basic My client cannot offer sponsorship now - or in the future. We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join a growing technology team within an established commodities trading business operating across global markets. This is an opportunity to work in a high-ownership engineering environment where technology has a direct impact on trading, automation and business performance. The opportunity You’ll work closely with Trading, Finance and Operations teams to build pragmatic, high-value technology solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to influence engineering practices, solve complex problems and automate processes that directly improve how the business operates. You’ll be involved in: Designing, developing and reviewing high-quality softwareBuilding technology solutions for trading teamsAutomating manual and operational processesSolving complex technical and business problemsImproving software development and SDLC practicesWorking with stakeholders across the business to turn ideas into effective solutionsContributing to a high-performing engineering culture focused on ownership, delivery and continuous improvement What we’re looking for You’ll have 2+ years’ commercial software development experience, with strong skills in: Python and SQLRelational databasesGit or similar version control systemsSoftware engineering best practicesAgile ways of working, including Scrum and/or KanbanBuilding pragmatic solutions that prioritise impact over perfectionExperience working with cloud infrastructure would be advantageous. Experience that would be a bonus AWS — including EC2, Lambda, Aurora and S3RESTful APIsReact or other modern UI technologiesCI/CD and DevOps practicesDocker/containerisation, ECS, Fargate or KubernetesKafka/Kinesis, Flink or other real-time data technologiesAirflow and data engineering pipelinesData visualisation and dashboardingDatadog or similar monitoring/logging platformsAutomated testing, TDD, BDD and performance testingLow-latency trading or comparable high-performance infrastructure The kind of person you’ll be Technical ability is important, but so is how you work.
