Our client is building a new kind of engineering organisation - embedding small, elite teams directly into Fortune 500 companies. You’ll work in small pods of strategists and engineers, embedding directly with clients to understand their business, identify opportunities, and build the technology to solve them. The company was founded by a team of experienced entrepreneurs with a track record of building and scaling successful businesses, including ventures that have reached millions of users/subscribers and significant eight-figure valuations or exits. The business itself has experienced exceptionally rapid growth since launching, expanding its team several-fold in its first year and continuing to scale aggressively. The Role The business is seeking an experienced and ambitious Embedded Software / Forward Deployed Engineer to solve critical challenges for Fortune 500 companies. The work spans modern web applications, AI-powered workflows, and agentic applications, with ownership across the full lifecycle - from understanding the problem and architecting the solution through to development, deployment, production, and ongoing client communication. This is a high-ownership environment where the emphasis is on building, shipping, and delivering measurable impact, rather than simply executing predefined requirements. The Ideal Candidate: 3+ years of professional software engineering experienceStrong experience building modern web applications and/or AI/agentic systemsExperience taking technical initiatives from idea through to productionBackground as a Tech Lead, Team Lead, Founding Engineer, CTO, or similarly high-ownership engineerHigh degree of autonomy and comfort operating in ambiguous environmentsGenuine client/customer-facing experienceAbility to explain technical concepts and architecture clearly to non-technical stakeholdersStrong bias toward shipping, problem-solving, and delivering outcomes Compensation 💰 $180,000 guaranteed base + uncapped quarterly variable compensation The variable component is tied directly to shipped work and an internal story-point system. Engineers in good standing typically earn an additional $10K–$15K per quarter, with top performers having earned significantly more. Location 📍 New York City - on-site 5 days per week ✈️ Client travel approximately once per month
