Senior DevOps opportunity centered on Azure, Terraform, cloud automation, and platform engineering. Offers influence over cloud strategy, mentoring responsibility, and exposure to emerging AI/MLOps tooling within a collaborative technology environment.
Description
We're working with a PE-backed organisation at the forefront of data and intelligence services, looking for a DevOps Engineer to help evolve their Azure cloud platform and drive engineering excellence across the business.
This is a great opportunity for a skilled DevOps professional with strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud automation to design, build, and optimise secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions.
You'll sit at the heart of a friendly, collaborative technology function, helping shape cloud strategy, championing platform best practices, and working alongside the wider engineering team — including mentoring a more junior team member — to deliver reliably at pace.
The team also has an AI-led product in flight, so there's genuine scope to get involved with modern AI/MLOps tooling as the platform evolves.
What You'll Be Doing
Defining, versioning, and managing Azure infrastructure through modular, reusable TerraformEnforcing rigorous GitFlow branching strategies, code reviews, and automated deployment practices for all infrastructure changesDesigning, building, and maintaining secure, high-speed CI/CD pipelines within Azure DevOps to automate code promotionActing as a second-line escalation point for platform incidents — third-party support handles first response, with you providing engineering-level diagnosis and resolution (no on-call requirement)Diagnosing complex platform bottlenecks, performance regressions, and infrastructure issues, and implementing permanent structural fixesWorking directly with external support providers on active incidents, complex escalations, and day-to-day infrastructure maintenanceDocumenting technical architecture clearly and communicating system requirements, post-mortems, and engineering decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersGetting involved in the team's MLOps/AI platform work as it develops — a genuine differentiator for the right candidate, not a requirement from day oneBuilding self-service infrastructure tools and deployment templates that reduce friction for the wider engineering team
What They're Looking For
Solid, hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in production — this is the core of the roleStrong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, with genuine experience building and maintaining environments through automated, version-controlled TerraformReal, hands-on experience owning CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps Comfort working independently across multiple projectsStrong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first attitude — you'll be working closely with colleagues day to day, not operating in isolationExperience troubleshooting production issues and working alongside third-party support providers on incident resolution
Exposure to MLOps or AI-adjacent tooling (e.g.
Kubernetes, Kubeflow, MLflow, Triton, Docker, SageMaker/Azure ML) is a genuine plus, not a requirement
They're open to candidates across a range of seniority levels — what matters most is genuine, provable depth in Azure, Terraform, and Azure DevOps, plus the communication skills and independence to thrive in a busy, collaborative environment.
