Description

Job description: Lead technology delivery for a major organisational transformation Shape future digital services and cloud infrastructure Work on high-impact initiatives with lasting sector-wide benefits About the Role As a Senior Engineer, Digital, you'll play a key role in delivering the technology foundations that support one of the most significant change programmes underway at CAA. You'll work across multiple transformation initiatives, ensuring new digital solutions are secure, reliable, and ready to support the future needs of the organisation. Working closely with architects, delivery teams, business stakeholders, and vendors, you'll translate business requirements into practical technology solutions that deliver real organisational value. This is an opportunity to influence technical decisions, solve complex challenges, and help shape future-state technology environments. You'll bring deep expertise across infrastructure, cloud, and operational technologies while providing leadership and guidance to colleagues. Beyond delivery, you'll help build capability, improve ways of working, and support the successful transition of new solutions into business-as-usual operations. About the Business Transformation Programme This is your opportunity to get in at the start. We are building a team to deliver a significant transformation that will shape the future of the organisation and the aviation sector. With strong executive support and a clear mandate for change, this is an opportunity to work on genuine transformation — not simply improve existing processes or deliver business as usual. These roles are initially offered on a one-year fixed-term basis while the business case progresses through approval. We recognise that means taking a degree of risk. But for the right person, it is also a chance to get involved at the point where the programme is being shaped, make a meaningful contribution and work on a transformation that is genuinely important. If you are motivated by complex change and want to help build something significant, this is the time to get involved. Key Responsibilities Lead the delivery of digital infrastructure and technology solutions Translate business needs into secure, scalable technical outcomes Support the successful transition of new solutions into operations Monitor and improve system performance, reliability, and resilience Identify opportunities to automate and enhance technology services Provide technical leadership, coaching, and expert advice The salary band for this role is $136,393 - $168,191. Starting salaries are based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, as well as internal relativities. For more information on the role please view the position description. What You'll Bring We're looking for a highly capable infrastructure and cloud professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems and contributing to meaningful organisational change. You'll be comfortable working across project delivery and operational environments while building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. To succeed in this role you'll demonstrate: Strong experience delivering enterprise infrastructure solutions Expertise across cloud technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure Ability to translate technical concepts into practical business outcomes Proven experience leading complex technical implementation activities Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills Ability to build credibility and influence across technical and non-technical audiences About Us The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is New Zealand’s aviation safety and security regulator.
