Software Engineer, Product Experience

The Role You will be a member of the technical staff developing product experiences for our Dispatch Intelligence users – customers who want and have battery energy storage systems for additional energy cost savings or faster interconnection times. In this role, you will serve in a “full stack” capacity designing, building, and maintaining frontend and backend components of our energy storage suite of applications. We use Typescript, React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Radix/ShadCN, Jest, Cypress, Playwright, Vitest, and Storybook with Echarts and D3/Observable for data visualization for our frontend, and Cloudflare Pages for hosting and content delivery. We rely on identity and auth platforms like Clerk for sign-in flows. Our backend is written in Go and Python with Postgres/AlloyDB and blob storage for data persistence. Key Responsibilities Foster a culture and mindset of well-designed systems, test-driven software, and proactive communication with a high degree of transparency, mutual respect, and consideration for teammatesCollaborate closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, and other engineers to develop intuitive, user-friendly Buyer Solutions software experiencesDesign, build, test, debug, maintain, and scale user-facing software and closely related components up and down the stackIntegrate frontend components with backend APIs while efficiently rendering and presenting interactive data visualizationsImplement backend APIs, middleware, and integrate these layers with databasesManage user authentication and authorization, sessions, and tokens using services like Clerk or Auth0 for secure user login systems.Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability with content delivery networksEvaluate and recommend new software tools, systems, and architectures as the product evolves What We're Looking For (Minimum Qualifications) Customer empathy and obsession to craft quality user experiencesHands-on experience working in both frontend (e.g. Typescript, React) and backend (e.g. Go, Python) software ecosystemsAbility to translate complex product requirements into functional software, and speak the language of engineers and designersCommitment to delivering high quality software on time or ahead of schedule while adhering to best software development practicesContinuous obsession for staying informed on contemporary technologies, tools, libraries, services, frameworks, or breakthroughs that could benefit the teamDiscipline using generative AI tools in day-to-day work What Will Make You Standout (Preferred Qualifications) A bachelor’s degree or higher, not necessarily in a STEM fieldSenior or Staff level software development talent and upProven track record being a technical leader in high-performing product engineering teamsExpert programming skills with Typescript and Go, advanced experience with Python is a big plusAdvanced experience developing in the gRPC + Protocol Buffer ecosystem (we use Buf’s Connect SDK)Deep knowledge of relational databases, SQL and cloud storage (e.g. GCS or S3)Experience authoring and maintaining UI kits, design systems, component librariesKeen sense and natural intuition for UI/UX design principlesUnderstanding of content delivery networks (CDN) and edge server solutionsDesire to be a generalist throughout the product engineering stackCloud-native system design and architecture knowledge, especially with container-based tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)Technical project management skills in agile, product-focused teamsWillingness and flexibility to operate in high-pressure environments where priorities can easily shift or pivot depending on user need What Makes Verse a Great Place to Work? Base Pay Range $150,000 - $240,000 This is the estimated base salary range for this position, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to level, skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs.
