About The Role Kyan Health is seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer with a deep expertise in artificial intelligence to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves designing and developing advanced AI-augmented features for our mental health and wellbeing platform, with a focus on AI agents, multi-step reasoning systems, and large language model (LLM) application architectures. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, data, product, and clinical teams to create end-to-end AI solutions that enhance user experience and clinical outcomes. Your architectural decisions and code contributions will have a significant and lasting impact on the platform’s evolution, as we are still in the early stages of developing our AI capabilities. The role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of AI-driven mental health solutions in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess over six years of senior-level engineering experience with a strong emphasis on AI and full stack development. A comprehensive understanding of the modern LLM ecosystem, including models, embeddings, fine-tuning, structured outputs, and evaluation, is essential. Proven hands-on experience in building production AI agents, such as planning or multi-step systems, tool-calling, and retrieval-integrated workflows, is required. Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, and TypeScript is necessary, along with experience in cloud-hosted application development on platforms like Azure or GCP. A solid background in backend development with Node.js, API design, data modeling, authentication, and performance optimization is also crucial. Familiarity with analytical data warehouses like BigQuery, as well as a pragmatic engineering mindset focused on readable, maintainable code, is highly valued. Nice-to-have qualifications include prior experience in healthtech or HR tech, AI evaluation frameworks, observability, human-in-the-loop workflows, and mobile development skills. Responsibilities Design and implement AI architectures, including coding agents, task-specific AI systems, and multi-step workflows to power user-facing features.Develop and optimize retrieval pipelines, embeddings flows, and hybrid retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) or logic systems.Architect robust prompting strategies, function-calling mechanisms, and tool orchestration systems to facilitate seamless AI integrations.Own the development of features across Next.js frontend, backend services, and mobile/web platforms, translating product and clinical requirements into effective AI-powered user experiences.Collaborate with data teams to manage data pipelines, BigQuery analytics, and experimentation frameworks for continuous improvement.Build and maintain shared React and React Native component libraries and design systems, ensuring accessibility, performance, and multi-language support across markets.Set coding standards and best practices for AI-integrated features, mentoring team members on AI architecture, evaluation, and failure modes.Challenge existing assumptions, propose innovative solutions, and promote responsible AI usage within the organization.
