Standard Backend Developer (Node.js & TypeScript)

Role Overview We are looking for a Standard Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable, cloud-ready server-side applications and APIs. You will define system architecture with an API-first mindset, optimize data strategies using PostgreSQL, and deliver secure, production-grade RESTful and streaming services. Experience with NestJS, PostGIS, and Azure-native deployment patterns will set you apart. Key Responsibilities Architect and deploy robust, maintainable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript, with a preference for NestJS as the application framework.Author the OpenAPI/Swagger specification as the primary design artifact before any implementation begins, using it as the contract between frontend and backend teams. RESTful services, streamingpatterns (SSE, chunked transfer), and any inter-service interfaces are all derived from and validated against this spec.Own schema design, complex query authoring, and performance tuning for PostgreSQL, including indexing strategies, partitioning, and transaction management, using modern ORMs or query builders(Prisma, TypeORM).Implement spatial indexing and queries using PostGIS to store, process, and serve geospatial information efficiently.Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (JWT, OAuth2) and caching strategies(Redis).Design and deploy services for cloud-native environments with a preference for Microsoft Azure(Azure App Services, Azure Container Apps, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure API Management,Azure Service Bus).Quality & Ops: Maintain automated testing suites (Jest, Supertest) and participate in CI/CD pipeline configuration. Required Qualifications 5+ years of server-side software engineering experience.Advanced proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript.Deep practical knowledge of PostgreSQL - query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and transactionmanagement.Proven experience authoring OpenAPI/Swagger documents as the leading design artifact – contract first, implementation second.Proven track record of designing and maintaining production-grade REST APIs, including streaming response patterns (SSE, chunked transfer encoding).Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks (Jest, Supertest).Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals (SOLID principles, clean architecture, designpatterns). Nice-to-Have Skills Professional experience with NestJS or a comparable enterprise-grade Node.js framework.Hands-on experience with PostGIS for spatial data processing and geographic queries.Cloud-native deployment experience on Microsoft Azure (Azure App Services, Azure Container Apps,Azure Functions, Azure API Management).Experience with gRPC for high-performance, contract-first inter-service communication.Familiarity with caching layers (Redis) and message brokers (Azure Service Bus).Exposure to Databricks for large-scale data processing and analytics pipeline integration.Tech Stack: Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, TypeORM / Prisma, Jest, OpenAPI / SwaggerREST, SSE, Azure.
