Trust Payments have an exciting opportunity for a Cloud Infrastructure Lead to join our Trust Retail team. Location: Hybrid - Bournemouth, United Kingdom Salary: Competitive + Benefits ***During your 3 months period, you'll be based in the office full-time, after 3 months, you'll have the opportunity to move to a hybrid working pattern. Please note that due to the nature of this role, all shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an in-person interview at our Bournemouth office. How will you make an impact in this role? Take primary ownership of Trust Retail's AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring environments are performant, secure, cost-efficient, and highly available. Guide the DevOps team, setting priorities, providing technical direction, and supporting the professional development of team membersPartner with the Solution Architect, Product Owner, BAs, and other technical stakeholders to design and deliver cloud infrastructure that supports new feature development and business growthChampion the identification and remediation of technical debt across our cloud estate, balancing pragmatic short-term fixes with sustainable long-term improvementsEstablish and uphold infrastructure standards, patterns, and best practices across all AWS environments, including networking, compute, storage, and security This role includes participation in an on-call Rota, providing 24/7 support coverage for a one-week period approximately every 5 to 6 weeks (subject to Rota size at any given time). What We Expect of You, Day To Day: Take primary ownership of Trust Retail's AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring environments are performant, secure, cost-efficient, and highly availableGuide the DevOps team, setting priorities, providing technical direction, and supporting the professional development of team membersPartner with the Solution Architect, Product Owner, BAs, and other technical stakeholders to design and deliver cloud infrastructure that supports new feature development and business growthChampion the identification and remediation of technical debt across our cloud estate, balancing pragmatic short-term fixes with sustainable long-term improvementsEstablish and uphold infrastructure standards, patterns, and best practices across all AWS environments, including networking, compute, storage, and securityOwn and evolve our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, ensuring all infrastructure is version-controlled, repeatable, and auditableEnsure robust monitoring, alerting, and observability across all environments, enabling rapid detection and resolution of incidentsCoordinate disaster recovery planning and testing, ensuring our infrastructure meets defined RTO and RPO targetsOversee CI/CD pipeline infrastructure, collaborating with development teams to improve deployment reliability, speed, and safetyManage cloud cost optimisation initiatives, including rightsizing, reserved capacity planning, and the reduction of wasteful resource usageMaintain a strong security and compliance posture across our AWS workloads, working with relevant stakeholders to adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirementsEvaluate and recommend new AWS services and tooling that could benefit the platform or reduce operational overhead Qualifications Required 6+ years' experience in cloud infrastructure or DevOps engineering roles, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior capacityExtensive, hands-on experience with AWS, spanning core services such as EC2, VPC, RDS, ECS, S3, IAM, CloudFront, and Route 53Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform, in production environmentsDemonstrated experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab (preferred), GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similarGood understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPC design, peering, load balancing, security groups, and DNSExperience implementing and maintaining cloud security best practices, including IAM policy design, secrets management, and compliance toolingProficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or equivalent languagesDemonstrated experience managing and mentoring DevOps or infrastructure engineersGood understanding of observability tooling, including AWS CloudWatch, and experience implementing meaningful alerting and dashboardsEffective communication skills, with the ability to articulate infrastructure concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersDesirable AWS professional-level certification (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, or DevOps Engineer – Professional)Familiarity with database infrastructure on AWS, including RDS and DynamoDB operational concernsExperience working within regulated or PCI-DSS compliant environmentsExposure to service mesh, zero-trust networking, or advanced security architecture patternsPersonal Qualities A collaborative leader who builds trust with both direct reports and senior stakeholdersSelf-motivated, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues before they become problemsAnalytical and detail-oriented, with good instincts for diagnosing complex infrastructure issuesComfortable operating at both a strategic level and a hands-on engineering level as the situation demandsA clear sense of ownership and accountability for the reliability and quality of the systems under their careAbility to manage competing priorities effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentCommitted to automation, repeatability, and continuously improving infrastructure qualites We offer comprehensive benefits to support our team members and their families' well-being.
