Senior Web & Video Player Engineer - Remote

We’re looking for Senior Web & Video Player Engineers with strong experience in JavaScript and web video playback, skilled in delivering high-performing, scalable streaming experiences across web and Connected TV platforms.
It's a great fit for people who enjoy owning playback quality end-to-end and collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to ship reliable video experiences.
What you’ll build and own
Design, architect, and implement video player features across web and Connected TV platforms (e.g., Chromecast, Xbox, Samsung Tizen, LG, Vizio, Comcast boxes).Build and optimize video player components using frameworks such as Bitmovin, JW Player, HLS.js, or Shaka.Troubleshoot and resolve playback issues, including rebuffering, latency, and live streaming-specific challenges.Analyze player performance and QoE metrics to diagnose issues and improve real-world playback quality.Contribute to player implementations using React Native for CTV and multi-device environments.Write automated unit or end-to-end tests and consume RESTful APIs to support reliable playback integrations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver software using agile methodologies.Provide clear technical specifications and documentation for playback features.
Core Requirements
7+ years of web development experience with deep expertise in JavaScript and web video playback.Proven experience building and maintaining video players and live playback components for web and Connected TV platforms.Strong hands-on experience with streaming frameworks such as Bitmovin, JW Player, HLS.js, or Shaka, including tuning and troubleshooting playback behavior for live streaming.Demonstrated ability to debug and optimize playback performance, including rebuffering, startup time, and playback stability.Familiarity with video streaming protocols, live playback concepts (latency, live edge, drift), ABR logic, and DRM integration.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-Have
Knowledge of video QoE metrics, ABR algorithms, and analytics platforms such as Conviva or Segment.Familiarity with Kepler or VegaOS development environments.Familiarity with Node.js or backend services integration.Background working in large-scale sports live streaming environments.Comfortable working flexible hours to overlap with distributed teams across different time zones.
