Role Description As a Staff Software Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain scalable back-end services and systems that support Delivery Hero’s global platforms.
You will lead technical initiatives, own critical architectural decisions, and mentor engineering teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.
Daily responsibilities include writing clean, testable code, reviewing peer implementations, improving performance and reliability, and collaborating with product, data, and operations stakeholders on complex technical problems.
You will help define engineering best practices, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to long-term technical roadmaps.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Berlin.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and system design.Advanced skills in Software Development and Programming, with experience in modern languages and frameworks.Expertise in Back-End Web Development, building scalable APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and designing maintainable, modular architectures.Experience leading technical projects, mentoring engineers, and influencing engineering direction.Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP), CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.Comfort working in cross-functional teams with product managers, designers, and data professionals.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience in high-traffic, high-availability systems and a strong focus on performance, security, and reliability.Fluency in English; additional languages are beneficial.
