About the Company
Our client is a UK-based EdTech SaaS platform helping schools strengthen the connection between teachers and parents, spanning parent-teacher meeting scheduling, video calls, pupil data and MIS integration.
A small, ambitious team, they have just closed a fundraising round and are scaling their product and engineering function.
They are ISO27001 certified and take data handling and security seriously across everything they build.
The Role
This is a core engineering role within a small, funded EdTech business, working fully remotely from Northern Ireland.
You will work across the full stack, React (TypeScript) on the front end and Node.js (TypeScript) on the back end, backed by Postgres and running on AWS.
This isn't a role where you're handed a ticket and told exactly what to build; you'll understand the why behind a feature, decide the best approach, build it well and make sure it works before it goes near production.
You'll collaborate directly with a non-technical co-founder, so clear communication matters as much as clean code.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain front-end interfaces using React 19 and React Router v7, delivering a polished experience for teachers and parentsDevelop and extend back-end services using Node.js 22, including integrations with third-party platforms such as Wonde, Postmark, Twilio and DailyTake features from concept through to deployment, scoping, building, testing and releasing with minimal hand-holdingOwn QA for your own work, testing rigorously across devices and edge casesCollaborate directly with the co-founder on priorities, product direction and technical decisionsIdentify and resolve bugs, performance issues and technical debt proactivelyReview code via GitHub PRs, maintaining high standards across the codebaseContribute to architectural decisions as the platform scalesProvision and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK and containerisation (Docker, Fargate, ECS/ECR)
What You'll Need
Essential:
5+ years' professional experience in full-stack or front-end-heavy developmentStrong React 19 / React Router v7 (TypeScript), including hooks, state management and component architectureSolid Node.js 22 (TypeScript) back-end experience, with RESTful API design and integrationSQL and Postgres v16+ experience, including Drizzle ORM and lightweight Postgres driversAWS infrastructure-as-code experience (AWS CDK) and containerisation (Docker, Fargate, ECS/ECR)Hands-on with core AWS services: RDS, S3 and CloudWatchGit/GitHub, PR-based workflow, and experience setting up CI/CD pipelinesA proven track record shipping production-quality code in a SaaS or product environmentExcellent written and spoken English, comfortable working asynchronously with a UK-based team
Desirable / Nice to Have:
Experience with EdTech or SaaS products serving the UK education sectorFamiliarity with WebRTC/video integrations, AI integrations, or payment platforms such as Stripe or Chargebee
