Role Description
The Senior Software Engineer will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the core back-end services that power PPLIED’s hiring platform.
This full-time hybrid role is based in Washington, United States, with the flexibility to work remotely part of the time.
Day-to-day responsibilities include architecting scalable systems, implementing robust APIs, optimizing data processing and matching algorithms, and collaborating with product managers and other engineers to deliver new features.
The Senior Software Engineer will ensure code quality through reviews, testing, and documentation, while contributing to technical decision-making and mentoring other team members.
The role also involves monitoring system performance, troubleshooting production issues, and continuously improving reliability and security.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software architecture principles.Proficiency in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, with experience building and maintaining scalable, production-grade services.Advanced Programming skills in one or more modern languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Go, or Node.js), with experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).Experience designing and consuming APIs, working with relational and/or NoSQL databases, and integrating with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).Knowledge of secure coding practices, performance optimization, and monitoring/logging tools for distributed systems.Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts clearly, and provide mentorship to less experienced engineers.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience with hiring, HR tech, or marketplace platforms is a plus, along with familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
