About The Team The Wind River Cloud team develops and delivers large-scale, cloud-native infrastructure solutions built on technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenStack. We operate at the forefront of fast-evolving open-source ecosystems, integrating these technologies into a robust platform designed to meet the demanding requirements of edge computing, including high availability, security, and scalability. Our team delivers core platform capabilities such as configuration management, fault management, and host management. We are also a leading contributor to the open-source StarlingX project (https://www.starlingx.io/) which provides a fully integrated cloud platform optimized for distributed edge environments, with a strong focus on 5G and telecom use cases. We are seeking a versatile, high-performing Cloud Software Developer specializing in networking and time-sensitive systems to help design and build next-generation cloud infrastructure. Responsibilities Design, develop, and enhance cloud-native platform components for the Wind River Cloud PlatformDevelop features related to Kubernetes networking, including CNI plugins (e.g., Calico) and multi-network configurationsImplement and optimize support for SR-IOV and other high-performance networking technologiesDevelop and integrate Precision Time Protocol (PTP) capabilities to support time-sensitive and low-latency workloads (e.g., 5G use cases)Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across distributed systems, including networking, timing synchronization, and infrastructure layersCollaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutionsContribute to open-source projects, particularly StarlingX and related ecosystemsWrite high-quality, maintainable, and testable code, with appropriate unit and integration testsParticipate in code reviews, design discussions, and continuous improvement of engineering practices Qualifications/Skills Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field8+ years of experience in software development for distributed or cloud-native systemsStrong proficiency in Python, C/C++, and/or Go, with experience building backend or infrastructure componentsSolid experience working in Linux environments, including system-level debugging and performance analysisHands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and container platforms (e.g., Docker)Experience with Kubernetes networking, including CNI plugins (e.g., Calico) and network policy implementationStrong understanding of Linux networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, bridging, bonding)Experience with SR-IOV or other high-performance data plane technologiesExperience with Precision Time Protocol (PTP), including configuration, synchronization, and troubleshooting in distributed systemsExperience with virtual switching technologies (e.g., Open vSwitch (OVS)) is highly desirableExperience with DPDK (Data Plane Development Kit) is highly desirableExperience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve productivity and development workflowsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex system-level issuesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in team environmentsSelf-motivated, fast learner with the desire and ability to master new technologies This role is compensation range is between $110,000 to $139,000 CAD annual plus annual incentive plan bonus. Compensation is determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members.
