PHP Developer Pearson Carter are currently working with a market-leading travel organisation that is investing heavily in its in-house technology team. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced PHP Developer to help drive the development of their customer-facing platforms and internal systems. You'll work with modern PHP technologies, cloud infrastructure, APIs and microservices, contributing to large-scale projects while collaborating with a close-knit development team. Responsibilities Develop, maintain and enhance backend applications using PHP and Symfony.Design and develop REST APIs and microservices for internal and external integrations.Build scalable, secure and high-performing applications.Work with AWS services including EC2, S3, CloudFront, Lambda, CloudWatch and RDS.Collaborate with developers, stakeholders and other business teams to deliver new features.Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code following best practices.Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions.Work within an Agile development environment to deliver projects on time.Stay up to date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate. Experience Around 3 years' commercial experience developing with PHP.Strong experience with the Symfony Framework.Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.Experience working with Linux and NGINX environments.Strong understanding of Git version control.Good knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively. Desirable Experience with React, Webpack and modern JavaScript (ES6).Knowledge of Redis and SOLR.Experience with website performance optimisation.Familiarity with SEO best practices.Experience with Google Tag Manager.Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Salary Salary is dependent on experience but is looking to pay between £40,000 - £50,000. Location This role is based in Colchester and is primarily office-based (3 days in office, 2 days from home).
