Engineering and technology is at the heart of everything we do, and we're looking for a Platform Engineer to join our Technology Operations team and help us build, maintain, and improve the cloud platforms that support our applications and customers.
You will become part of a close-knit Tech Ops team of 13 professionals spanning Infrastructure, Application Support, and DevOps.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of cloud-hosted applications, modern container platforms, and automation initiatives while working closely with developers and operational teams.
The Role
As a Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the management, reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of our Kubernetes infrastructure.
You'll play a key role in operating and enhancing our Kubernetes environments, containerised workloads, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving platform resilience, and enabling development teams to deliver software efficiently and securely.
Key Responsibilities
Architecting and maintaining internal developer platforms.Manage and support production and non-production environments hosted in AWS.Operate, maintain, and optimise Kubernetes clusters and containerised applications.Monitor platform health, performance, availability, and capacity.Investigate and resolve platform, infrastructure, and application-related incidents.Work closely with Development, DevOps, and Application Support teams to improve system reliability and deployment processes.Collaborating with developers work closely with software engineers and operations teams to understand business requirements and translate into technical solutionsDevelop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC).Support and improve CI/CD pipelines and release automation processes.Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability solutions.Drive platform security, vulnerability management, patching, and compliance activities.Participate in technical projects including platform upgrades, migrations, and cloud transformation initiatives.Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability strategies.Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.Participate in an on-call rota where required.Make sure that the same security and deployment standards are present across the whole infrastructure.Essential Skills & Experience
Strong experience administering and supporting AWS cloud environments.Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments.Strong understanding of container technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.Experience managing cloud-native applications and microservices architectures.Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.Knowledge of CI/CD platforms and deployment automation.Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar.Good understanding of Linux systems administration.Experience troubleshooting complex application and infrastructure issues.Knowledge of networking principles including DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and TLS/SSL.Experience working within DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering practices.Desirable Skills
Experience with Amazon EKS.Exposure to GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.Knowledge of security best practices within AWS and Kubernetes.Experience with Helm, ArgoCD, or other GitOps tooling.Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other database technologies.Experience supporting SaaS platforms.AWS certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or AWS SysOps Administrator.Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, or similar).What We're Looking For
