Full Stack Software Developer

Build software used around the world Datanest is a Christchurch-founded SaaS company making environmental and engineering data easier to collect, manage, understand and deliver. Our platform is now used by organisations across New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the UK, and we’re expanding into the United States. We’re growing quickly and looking for an experienced Full-Stack Software Developer to join our Christchurch team and help build the next generation of Datanest. Why Datanest? You’ll work closely with our founders, product team, customers and other developers, contribute to technical decisions and take ownership of features from idea through to release. Good ideas don’t disappear into layers of management. They become features our customers use. We’re developing new functionality across field data collection, laboratory data management, GIS and mapping, dashboards, automated reporting and AI-assisted workflows. We’re also investing heavily in our technical foundations — improving architecture, reducing technical debt, strengthening performance and building a platform that can scale with us. What you’ll work with Our technology includes: Laravel / PHPGolang — or a willingness to learnVue.js / TypeScriptPostgreSQL / PostGISAPIs and database integrationsGit / GitHubAWS, DevOps, IaC and CI/CD Experience with spatial data or GIS is valuable but not essential. Ideally, you’ll have 5+ years of commercial full-stack development experience and experience building modern SaaS applications. More importantly, you’ll be someone who takes ownership, cares about engineering quality and user experience, and wants to understand the problem behind a feature rather than simply implement a specification.
