About the opportunity Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Retail Lending Technology, you will join a team focused on building next generation lending products for retail banking, brokers and partners.  We have a large roadmap ahead, modernising existing systems and adding new capabilities to our highly successful modern Lending Platform stack, including agentic AI powered solutions. Our engineers take ownership from requirements and concept to production, solving business and process problems too. Technology stack includes:  React and TypeScript Node.js BFF services REST and GraphQL APIs Java and SpringBoot microservices Camunda workflow AWS cloud infrastructure Google Gemini AI stack In this role you’ll get to Work with latest tech stack end to end, having an opportunity to contribute to architectural design and technical strategy for our core systems, simplifying complexity and ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide goals.  Champion and embed engineering best practices in testing, security, and CI/CD to enhance quality and reduce technical debt across our services.  Drive technical capability within the team through knowledge sharing, design reviews, and fostering a culture of high-quality engineering.  Collaborate with product and engineering leaders on cross-domain initiatives and represent the engineering perspective in strategic discussions and technical assessments.  What you’ll bring to the role  To be successful in the role you will be a hands-on engineer who brings a blend of deep engineering expertise, strategic influence and; 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience. Full-stack expertise: strong Java and React Modern practices: Deep experience with AWS, Microservices (REST/GraphQL), and CI/CD pipelines Quality and Security: A champion for clean code, automated testing (Playwright), robust observability, and application security Enterprise experience: Proven success navigating regulated, large-scale enterprise environments Strategic Influence: The ability to translate complex business, risk, and technology goals into pragmatic engineering strategies, while effectively influencing and communicating with stakeholders. Pragmatic Problem Solving: A natural ability to navigate ambiguity, make well-reasoned decisions, and balance technical excellence with business delivery. Forward-Thinking Mindset: A strong passion for driving agentic software development lifecycles (SDLC) and a deep curiosity about how AI can revolutionize engineering, delivery, and customer experiences. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, located at any of our Head Office locations, with a preference for Melbourne.
