About the Role We are seeking a Senior Cloud & Modern Workplace Engineer to join our cloud‑first engineering team. This is a hands‑on senior technical role responsible for designing, building, and operating secure, scalable cloud platforms across identity, modern workplace, security, and data services. In addition to our Microsoft 365 E5, Entra ID, Intune, and Azure environments, the organisation operates a Modern Data Platform in Azure, including Azure Databricks, which this role will help support, secure, and integrate as part of the broader cloud ecosystem. This role suits someone who enjoys deep technical delivery, understands platform interdependencies, and actively contributes to continuous improvement across cloud and data platforms. Key Responsibilities Cloud & Identity Engineering Manage and optimise Entra ID identity, conditional access, governance, and security policies.Maintain Microsoft 365 E5 security and compliance capabilities.Design and manage Intune device management, security baselines, and modern workplace settings.Azure & Platform Services Deliver secure and resilient Azure IaaS and PaaS solutions.Support and improve Azure Virtual Desktop environments where required.Integrate Microsoft security tooling, including Defender for Endpoint.Modern Data Platform (Azure & Databricks) Support Azure Modern Data Platform components, including Azure Databricks.Work with data, analytics, and engineering teams on secure identity, RBAC, networking, and platform access.Improve operational stability, security, and automation of the data platform.Projects & Delivery Deliver cloud onboarding and transformation projects end to end.Lead technical implementation from design through deployment and handover.Troubleshoot complex issues across identity, endpoint, and cloud platforms.Automation & Continuous Improvement Use automation, scripting, and AI-assisted techniques to streamline operations.Reduce manual effort through standardisation and reusable patterns.Contribute technical improvements to internal platforms and customer offerings.Collaboration & Engineering Culture Collaborate with a skilled engineering team.Share knowledge, mentor where appropriate, and support technical standards.Provide input into architecture, security design, and service evolution. About You Strong hands-on experience across Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, cloud engineering, and modern workplace environments.Confident supporting Azure PaaS environments and modern data platform components from a cloud, security, and operations perspective.Practical scripting and automation capability, ideally using PowerShell or equivalent tooling.Comfortable owning complex technical outcomes independently, from design through delivery and troubleshooting.Experience with Azure Databricks, AVD, Defender for Endpoint, tenant migrations, MSP/CSP environments, or Microsoft security tooling is highly regarded.Microsoft certifications such as SC-300, SC-200, SC-400, AZ-104, AZ-305, MS-102, or MD-102 are beneficial but not mandatory where equivalent real-world capability can be demonstrated.A senior, hands-on engineer with strong communication skills, a pragmatic problem-solving approach, and a continuous improvement mindset.
