Description

We are partnering with an established international technology business operating a secure, high-volume transactional platform within the iGaming sector. They are hiring experienced Scala Developers to help modernise their core platform and support its migration towards a next-generation architecture. This is a server-side position offering the opportunity to develop new services, deliver third-party integrations and improve a business-critical production environment. What you’ll be doing Developing and delivering new features across the core platform Building scalable server-side services using Scala Supporting the migration of legacy applications towards a modern Scala architecture Designing and implementing integrations with third-party platforms and APIs Maintaining services supporting customer-facing products and internal administration tools Diagnosing and resolving production issues Improving platform performance, resilience and maintainability Writing automated tests and participating in code reviews Collaborating with engineers, product teams and technical stakeholders Taking ownership of technical challenges from design through to production What we’re looking for At least three years of commercial Scala development experience Strong server-side or backend engineering experience Commercial experience with another JVM language, such as Java or Kotlin Strong SQL skills, including writing and optimising complex queries Experience building APIs, microservices or distributed systems Knowledge of automated testing practices and frameworks Experience supporting production-critical applications Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach Ability to work independently within a remote-first engineering team Desirable experience Akka, Play Framework, Cats, Cats Effect, ZIO or similar Scala technologies Functional-programming principles Asynchronous, concurrent or reactive programming Java Servlets and legacy application modernisation Third-party API integrations Java application profiling and performance optimisation High-volume transactional platforms Payments, fintech, e-commerce, gaming or iGaming environments
