Join us in our mission to transform how people do work. 📌 About The Role We're looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join our Core Engineering team, which powers the document workflows millions of people rely on every day: viewing, editing, embedding, and exporting content, along with the integrations that connect Scribe to the rest of a customer's stack. You'll ship well-scoped backend work across these core systems, building technical judgment alongside an experienced team while contributing to both existing product surfaces and new, greenfield projects. 🛠️ What You'll Do Build and ship backend features in our Django monolith, spanning core document workflows (viewing, editing, embeds, exports) as well as new greenfield projects that expand what Scribe can doImprove performance and reliability by optimizing database queries, endpoints, and caching layers in well-scoped areasCollaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver intuitive and reliable experiences at scaleIncorporate feedback from teammates to continuously grow your craftWrite thoughtful code reviews, solid tests, and pay attention to observability and performance in your work 🔍 What We're Looking For You have 3+ years of experience building backend applicationsYou have solid experience with PythonYou can optimize endpoint performance and database queries in code you ownYou’re a strong advocate for automated testingYou're familiar with engineering best practices and eager to deepen themYou’re user-centric, empathetic, and passionate about your work ✨ Nice to have Experience with Django (not required, but a big plus)Startup experience (not required, but we build and move fast!) We work from the office 3 days per week. 💰 Compensation Salary varies by location. All full-time employees receive equity in Scribe.
