Backend Engineer (PHP)

Due to company growth and international expansion, an opportunity has become available for an experienced Backend Engineer (PHP) to join our team. Location & Contract Type: This is a hybrid role that would require presence in our Sofia or Plovdiv office twice per week. What You’ll be Doing: Defining, interpreting and developing software to written requirements and technical specifications Suggesting improvements to existing products and implementing them across our platform Troubleshooting, testing and maintaining the core product and databases to ensure it is functional and scalable Assisting QA in defining acceptance tests and performing troubleshooting Supporting the creation and maintenance of technical documentation Writing clean, well-designed code, following coding standards and best practices Working with globally distributed and multi-disciplinary teams Participating in mentoring and knowledge-sharing activities Experience and Skills You Need in this Role: Proven experience developing web applications with PHP 8 or later Proficient in SQL, with hands-on experience using MySQL Strong understanding of OOP concepts and SOLID design principles Familiarity with common software design patterns Experience with unit and integration testing (e.g., PHPUnit or similar) Proven experience developing and consuming APIs Proficient with Git for version control Excellent English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams Desirable: Experience with Amazon Web ServicesExperience with CI/CD toolingExperience with Docker The Interview Process: Screening call with a member of the Talent Team45-minute video interview with the Engineering ManagerFinal video 75 minute video interview with the Engineering Manager and Engineering Lead At Reward Gateway | Edenred, we are committed to ensuring an inclusive and accessible recruitment process for all candidates.
