Summary
We are seeking an IT Systems & Automation Engineer to support the company's technological infrastructure, collaborating with cross-functional teams on events, systems integration, and video production. The role involves maintaining Windows Server, Linux, macOS, networking, and scripting environments, as well as beginning AI integration into daily tools. Occasional on-site and out‑of‑hours work during events is required. This is a supervised position with strong mentorship and teamwork.
Highlights
Opportunity to work across multiple technical domains including systems, networking, scripting, and AI integration, in a collaborative and supervised environment with exposure to live events and modern automation tools.
Description
Overall Purpose
Studioseven is looking for someone to help look after the IT the whole company runs on, and to work with our Conferences & Events, Systems Integration and Video Production teams on the jobs where IT and audio-visual meet.
You will also help carry forward something we have only recently started, connecting AI directly into the tools we work in every day.
Because much of our work is live, there is occasional on-site and out-of-hours work around events.
You will not be doing the same thing twice.
This is a supervised role.
You will report to and work with our management, alongside colleagues and our external partners, and you will not be left to work anything out on your own.
The list below looks long, but most of it is a series of small, regular tasks that keep our systems healthy rather than a set of large projects.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements
Familiarity with any of the following will help, in any combination:
Windows Server, Linux or macOS,Networking,Scripting in PowerShell,Hypervisors such as Proxmox or Hyper-V,PABX or VoIP systems,WordPress, CI/CD pipelines and version control,AV over IP or streaming,AI or automation tools.Relevant certificationsA valid driving licenceKnowledge of more than two languages – English being a must and Maltese preferable.
Nobody arrives knowing all of it, and you are not expected to.
We need someone reliable and curious, who prioritises sensibly, asks rather than guesses, and documents as they go.
You will have the support of the team as you pick up the rest.
What you’ll do
As a key member of our team, your tasks will involve:
Servers and systems.
Maintaining our Windows Server environment and Active Directory, our Microsoft365 tenant including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and Entra ID, our virtualised infrastructure on Proxmox and Hyper-V with Linux containers, the Macs some of our colleagues work on, and our backups, including checking that a restore actually works when someone needs it.
Network, phones and security.
Our network and wireless, remote access, our office telephone systemand PABX, endpoint protection and patching, and our approach to access and passwords.
You will work within our information security and data protection policies and help us meet our ISO obligations.
Projects and people.
Helping design and commission IT-based AV solutions, from streaming andvideoconferencing to AV over IP, supporting systems-integration projects involving networked AV, keeping our WordPress website up to date, helping colleagues’ day to day across every department, and writing down what you do so other team members can follow it.
AI, automation and business systems.
The newest part of the role, and for the right person the mostinteresting.
We have brought Claude AI into the tools the company already uses, connected directly to Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and we are extending it further.
You would help build and maintain those connectors, look for the tasks worth automating, and help colleagues actually use them.
Alongside this sit the integrations that hold the business together, including our Acumatica ERP and the workflow automation around it, and the CI/CD pipelines that deploy our in-house applications automatically when the code changes.
Very few people in Malta are doing this yet, and you would help shape how we do it rather than inherit a finished system.
Who we are looking for
We are not counting years.
Experience in a similar environment is welcome.
So is having just finished school or college and taught yourself this material at home, in your own time, on your own equipment – some of the best people in the field started this way.
What matters is that you are genuinely interested in how systems work, that you have built things, broken them and fixed them yourself, and that you read the documentation and then try it.
A home server or small network you set up, a machine you built, a Linux box or Raspberry Pi you run, scripts you have written, something you have automated, or your own experiments with AI tools count here, and sometimes tell us more than a CV does.
What We Offer
A supportive and creative team that feels more like a collaboration.Access to top-notch equipment and software.Plenty of opportunities to grow your skills and take on new challenges.Exciting and diverse projects – no two days are ever the same
Tell us what you have built.
A CV is welcome, but we are just as interested in a short note about your own projects, with links if you have them.
