We are looking for a Senior Automation Tools Engineer to join our Automation Tools team.
In this role, you will design, deploy, and maintain automation frameworks that support infrastructure reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
We work closely with development, operations, engineering, and IT teams to simplify deployment, configuration, system management, and lifecycle processes.
This includes deploying and operating automation tools and their frameworks, such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, GitLab, Vault, and Foreman, across our hybrid estate and compute clusters.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain automation solutions using IaC, Python, Bash, and configuration management tools.Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment efficiency.Investigate infrastructure issues, identify root causes, and implement automated fixes to support service reliability and stability.Create clear documentation for our tools, processes, and operating procedures.Participate in an on-call rotation to help maintain system availability and restore services when incidents occur.Review new tools and technologies, and recommend practical ways to make our automation services more reliable, secure, and easier to operate.
Required Skills And Experience
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).Hands-on experience using infrastructure automation and configuration management tools to support production environments.Good experience handling large-scale Linux environments and resolving system issues.Experience building or supporting CI/CD pipelines, using version control, and applying DevOps practices in production environments.Proficiency in Python, Bash, or a similar scripting language, with experience using scripts to automate operational tasks.Experience working across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP).
“Nice To Have” Skills And Experience
Experience supporting large-scale or multi-cluster environments across different locations or infrastructure platforms.Experience using Codex or other AI-enabled tools to support software development and automation use cases.Relevant technical certifications or experience working in Agile or Scrum teams.

Salary Range
£60,900 - £82,300 per year
