Full Stack Developer

ABOUT GYMNATION GymNation is a Dubai-based chain of large-format fitness centers founded in 2017, operating over 20 locations across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As we continue to expand, we're looking for exceptional talent to grow with us and help bring the unmistakable GymNation energy to members across the region. THE ROLE GymNation is expanding our team and seeking a talented Full Stack Developer to contribute to our comprehensive internal systems. You'll work with modern technologies across our entire stack, from the database through to a cross-platform frontend — building the tools our teams and members rely on every day. TECHNICAL STACK Backend • Python, Elixir, Golang, TypeScript and Flask • Real-time communication (WebSockets) • PostgreSQL, containerization and Kubernetes Frontend • React Native with Expo, for both native and web • Modern JavaScript / TypeScript tooling • Utility-first CSS KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Full stack development • Develop and maintain full-stack features for our internal systems • Build responsive web interfaces and cross-platform mobile applications • Implement real-time features for live data communication Data and platform • Design and optimize database schemas and queries • Manage database migrations and version control • Integrate authentication and authorization systems Engineering practices • Write clean, maintainable code following best practices • Collaborate with team members on feature planning and implementation • Participate in code reviews and scrum meetings, and uphold coding standards The duties and responsibilities listed are not exhaustive and may be reasonably amended as business requirements evolve. WHAT YOU'LL BRING Backend • Strong experience with Python or Elixir • Understanding of ORM patterns and database migrations • Experience with PostgreSQL database design and optimization • Knowledge of real-time communication patterns (WebSockets) • Familiarity with RESTful API design principles • Willingness to learn and work with Elixir — prior experience is a plus, but not required Frontend • Experience with React and modern JavaScript / TypeScript • Understanding of responsive web design and utility-first CSS frameworks • Knowledge of state management patterns • Familiarity with modern build tools and development workflows • Understanding of mobile app deployment processes Authentication and security • Experience with OAuth 2.0 and enterprise authentication flows • Understanding of security best practices for web applications • Knowledge of role-based access control (RBAC) General • Proficiency with Git version control • Experience with agile development methodologies • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills • Good communication and collaboration abilities • Eagerness to learn new technologies and languages Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Elixir or other functional programming languages • Kubernetes and container orchestration • React Native and cross-platform mobile development • Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS or similar) • Experience with automated testing frameworks • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines • Knowledge of performance optimization techniques WHAT WE OFFER • Competitive salary based on experience, plus annual bonus • Professional development opportunities • Modern development tools and equipment • Collaborative and innovative work environment • GymNation all-access membership • 30 calendar days paid vacation plus UAE public holidays HIRING PROCESS • Submit your resume and cover letter through the application form • Intro call — 30 minute phone or video screening • Technical interview — screening questions and a code assignment • Final interview — meet the leads • Checks and offer Want to focus on building end-to-end, production-ready solutions that actually affect people's lives?
