Position Summary IPTA is seeking an API Developer to design, develop, and deploy RESTful APIs that provide programmatic access to enterprise data sources. This role focuses on modernizing data access by creating secure, scalable APIs for SQL databases, legacy systems, and file-based data stores. The ideal candidate will have strong software development skills and experience integrating diverse data sources into unified API interfaces. Responsibilities Design and develop RESTful APIs for enterprise data sourcesCreate API endpoints for SQL databases, legacy systems, and file storage systemsImplement API authentication and authorization using OAuth and API key mechanismsDevelop API documentation using OpenAPI/Swagger specificationsOptimize API performance and implement caching strategiesIntegrate with object storage and network file systemsCollaborate with data teams to understand data structures and requirementsWork with application developers to define API contracts and interfacesImplement API versioning and backward compatibility strategiesDevelop API monitoring, logging, and error handling solutionsEnsure API security best practices and data protectionPerform API testing including unit, integration, and load testingMaintain and enhance existing APIs based on user feedbackSupport legacy system modernization through API abstraction layers Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a related field10 years of software development experienceStrong experience developing RESTful APIsProficiency in one or more languages: JavaScript/Node.js, Python, Go, or C#Experience with SQL databases and writing SQL queriesKnowledge of API authentication mechanisms (OAuth, API keys)Understanding of API design principles and best practicesExperience with API documentation tools (Swagger/OpenAPI)Strong problem-solving and debugging skillsActive Security Clearance requiredDoD 8570 Level II/III certification desired Desired Qualifications Experience integrating legacy systems and mainframe data sourcesKnowledge of API gateway technologies (Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway)Experience with object storage systems (MinIO, S3-compatible storage)Familiarity with microservices architectureExperience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)Knowledge of message queuing systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka)Experience with API performance optimization and caching (Redis, Memcached)Understanding of data transformation and ETL processesExperience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesKnowledge of GraphQL or gRPC protocols Technical Skills RESTful API design and developmentJavaScript/Node.js, Python, Go, or C#SQL databases and query optimizationOAuth 2.0, API key management, JWTOpenAPI/Swagger documentationAPI testing frameworks and toolsVersion control (Git)File system and object storage integrationAPI monitoring and loggingJSON/XML data formats IPTA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
