Platform Engineer (GCP) at BairesDev In this role, you'll build and maintain the platform foundations that support an AI-driven mainframe modernization practice, ensuring that systems regenerated in Java, Go, or .NET on GCP run reliably at scale. Working alongside architects and engineers within project pods, you'll focus on the infrastructure and data platform layers that make modernization efforts sustainable long-term. This is your opportunity to apply platform engineering discipline to a complex modernization challenge, working in a fully GCP-based environment with global engineering teams. What You'll Do: - Build and maintain platform infrastructure supporting application modernization efforts on GCP. - Implement and manage data pipelines and analytics platforms using BigQuery. - Support engineering teams with platform reliability, scalability, and best practices. - Collaborate with distributed engineering teams within a fully GCP-based environment. What we are looking for: - 5+ years of experience in platform engineering with GCP. - Experience supporting application modernization, contributing to re-architecting legacy or mainframe-class systems into Java, Go, or .NET. - Background in data architecture on GCP including BigQuery and data pipelines. - Exposure to consulting or professional services delivery in project-based, client-facing environments. - Familiarity with AI engineering practices such as harness engineering or spec-driven design. - Experience with requirements gathering. - Familiarity with test-driven design. - Advanced proficiency in English. Nice to have: - Mainframe or COBOL domain familiarity. - Experience with DORA metrics. - QA discipline and practices.
