Senior Software Engineer

Ko tā mātou mahi – About the role This is a hands-on senior engineering role where you'll maintain, improve and modernise complex OSS integration solutions. You'll balance enhancing existing and legacy applications with developing secure, scalable software that enables greater automation, operational resilience and the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices. Working closely with engineers, product owners and operational teams, you'll solve complex technical challenges, improve engineering practices and help shape the future of Kordia's operational platforms. Ko tō mahi – What you will do Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll work across the full software development lifecycle; designing, building and improving applications that support Kordia's operational support systems. What you'll be responsible for Designing and developing secure, maintainable software and integrations across OSS platformsMaintaining and modernising existing applications while reducing technical debt and improving reliabilityBuilding resilient integrations between operational, network and broadcast systemsContributing to automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and deployment practicesChampioning automation and AI-assisted engineering to improve delivery and operational efficiencyTroubleshooting complex technical issues and delivering practical, scalable solutionsCollaborating with engineers, product owners and operational teams to deliver high-quality outcomesSharing knowledge, conducting code reviews and helping lift engineering capability across the team Nā tōu rourou – What you will bring Extensive software development experience within complex technology environmentsStrong backend Python development skills, including frameworks such as Django or FastAPIExperience supporting and modernising existing or legacy codebasesExperience building integration solutions across operational or distributed systemsStrong understanding of automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and container technologies such as Docker or KubernetesA practical approach to balancing technical quality, operational reliability and business outcomesExperience using modern engineering practices, including automation and AI-assisted development toolsExcellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teamsA passion for continuous improvement and sharing knowledge with others Nōu te rourou – Why join us?
