Key Skills: Kubernetes / K8s | Linux Infrastructure | DevOps / Platform Engineering/ Data Enginering/ Soft Architecture/ Strong Infrastructure knowledge + Docker | GitLab CI/CD | Any ROS 2 / Robotics Environments is a bonus + Python | Bash | Simulation Automation
This is a brilliant opportunity for a Senior/LeadDevOps Engineer who wants to work much closer to the world of robotics, autonomous systems and advanced engineering platforms.
Not just keeping pipelines ticking over.
This role is about building the infrastructure that allows engineering teams to develop, test, simulate and deploy complex robotics software properly — at scale, across sites, and without everything being held together in the wrong way…..
You will be working across Linux infrastructure, CI/CD, Docker-based developer environments, Kubernetes/container orchestration, ROS 2 build environments, simulation automation and Python tooling.
The focus is on creating reliable, repeatable, production-ready engineering infrastructure for teams working on serious robotics and software systems, and supporting the hiring manager to build and scale up this group.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for designing, improving and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines, shared template libraries, multi-stage build/test workflows and deployment automation.
You’ll build and manage Docker-based developer environments, Dev Containers and production images, while supporting private container registries, artifact management and image lifecycle policies.
Provision and maintain Linux-based development infrastructure, including development VMs, local engineering environments and scalable testing infrastructure across multiple sites.
Also part of the role is supporting robotics engineering teams, including ROS 2-based software stacks, multi-repository workspace automation, simulation environments and reproducible test/validation workflows.
You’ll also support data and observability tooling, including ETL workflows, robotics/operational data pipelines, monitoring, logging and Python-based tooling for analysis and system output visibility.
What we’re looking for
PHD in Computer Science
Strong hands-on experience with:
Kubernetes / container orchestration
Linux development environments — Ubuntu / Debian
GitLab CI/CD pipelines, runners and shared templates
Docker, Docker Compose and Dev Containers
Infrastructure automation and environment provisioning
Private registries, artifact management and package repositories
Python and Bash scripting
ROS 2 build / infrastructure support
Simulation or test automation environments
GitLab, Bitbucket, Jira / Confluence
You do not need to be a robotics engineer by trade, but you do need to be comfortable supporting the infrastructure behind robotics, simulation and complex multi-repo software environments.
Nice to have
Experience with Kubernetes, automating simulation environments, provisioning Linux-based development VMs, supporting autonomous systems or robotics platforms, and setting up infrastructure in a greenfield or new-site environment would all be highly relevant.
Why this role?
This is a proper platform/infrastructure role in a serious engineering environment.
You’ll be helping teams move faster, test better, deploy cleaner and build robotics systems with infrastructure that actually works which, in this space, is worth its weight in gold.
