Senior Data Scientist, Operations Research

Job DescriptionJoin our team of data science and machine learning experts to shape next-generation fleet strategies. We answer one of the most impactful questions in our business: how many cars of each type should be in each location, at any point in time? Our long-term fleet planning decisions directly drive revenue management, purchasing, and pricing across the business — and ensure we have the right cars in the right places to deliver the best experience for every customer. We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist – Operations Research with a strong background in mathematical optimization and machine learning — someone with both a solid theoretical foundation and a proven track record of applying these methods in practice. Ideally, you also bring revenue management expertise, for example hands-on experience in dynamic pricing or stock planning optimization. YOUR ROLE AT SIXT You design, develop, and deploy advanced fleet planning systems that support all parts of the business, from purchasing decisions to pricing to financial projectionsYou formulate and solve complex optimization problems, including linear, nonlinear, dynamic, and stochastic, to maximize margin and support key decision making processesYour planning decisions affect stakeholders across the business, and explaining the why behind the results is just as important as the results themselvesYou build models that capture the real world complexity of renting cars, from how pricing decisions are made to how cars are allocated to customersYou stay current on the latest research in revenue management, operations research, and machine learning, and bring new ideas into the teamYou provide mentorship and guidance to junior team membersYOUR SKILLS MATTER Optimization & Solvers You bring a strong background in mathematical optimization, including linear, nonlinear, and integer programming, solvers, and algorithm design such as dynamic and stochastic programmingEducation You hold a Master's degree or higher in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative fieldMachine Learning You have a solid understanding of supervised and unsupervised ML techniques, model evaluation, and how to take a model from experimentation to a reliable, maintainable production systemProgramming Skills You bring expertise in Python for data analysis, modeling, and production deploymentAI Proficiency You use AI tools to accelerate development and analysis, stay up to date with the latest developments, and actively drive adoption across the teamAnalytical Mindset You translate complex problems into actionable models and analyses, and communicate findings clearly to different audiencesRevenue Management Expertise (Plus) You have experience implementing or optimizing revenue management or stock optimization systemsWHAT WE OFFER The SIXT Lisbon Experience Two of Lisbon's most exciting hubs — Factory Lisboa in Beato and ARTs Lisboa in Parque das Nações — are where you'll find your new home base.
