How you’ll play your partIn this role, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and supplier governane across vehicle inspection, refurbishment, repair authorisation, repair economics and vehicle grading activities within the End of Contract operation. The role ensures MBFS vehicles are assessed consistently, repaired where commercially viable, prepared to the appropriate quality standards and progressed through the de-fleet and remarketing journey efficiently. The role will work closely with de-fleet centres, inspection providers, repair suppliers, auction partners and internal stakeholders to improve inspection accuracy, control repair spend, support fair customer outcomes and maximise vehicle disposal returns. Main AccountabilitiesSupplier Management & Operational Governance:Act as the key de-fleet operational liaison and first escalation point for logistics, charging, vehicle condition, inspection quality, refurbishment and supplier-related operational issues.Manage relationships with inspection, de-fleet, repair, auction and remarketing suppliers, ensuring agreed service standards, KPIs and SLAs are achieved.Lead supplier performance reviews, governance forums and operational meetings, driving continuous improvement and corrective actions where required.Complete stock audits, operational reviews and control activities, providing accurate reporting and insight to support risk management and business decision-making.Ensure business controls, governance processes, approval frameworks and grading standards are documented, maintained and consistently applied across inspection, repair, refurbishment and remarketing activities.Monitor supplier performance, repair expenditure and operational risks, ensuring activity remains aligned to MBFS financial, operational and customer outcome objectives.Analyse operational and supplier data to identify trends relating to damage capture, inspection quality, supplementary costs, repair spend and vehicle throughput.Support accurate customer charging and credit-control query resolution by ensuring supplier evidence, repair decisions, supplementary costs and vehicle condition outcomes are clearly documented, technically justified and available for review.Build effective relationships with MBFS Sales, MBUK Used Cars, de-fleet centres, auction providers and repair partners to support operational performance and service delivery.Technical Repair / Authorisation Oversight:Act as the technical specialist for vehicle damage assessment, refurbishment standards, repair methodologies, repair quality and vehicle grading within the de-fleet environment.Review supplier inspections and damage assessments to ensure damage is identified accurately and consistently in line with agreed standards.Review, authorise, challenge or reject repair estimates and refurbishment activity where required, ensuring repair methods, labour content, parts usage and supplier recommendations are technically appropriate, commercially justified and within agreed authority levels.Assess vehicle damage against manufacturer repair standards and determine appropriate repair, refurbishment or disposal strategies.Lead technical vehicle review sessions, including "Touch Metal" reviews, to validate repair approaches and improve supplier capability.Determine whether vehicles are economically repairable by considering repair costs, vehicle value, forecast disposal returns and refurbishment investment.Control and govern repair versus disposal decisions, ensuring consistent application of policy, effective cost management and maximum vehicle value realisation.Ensure vehicle grading is applied consistently in line with MBFS, manufacturer and relevant industry standards, including future grading frameworks where applicable.Investigate trends in inspection accuracy, supplementary repair costs, repair quality and refurbishment expenditure, implementing improvements where required.Provide technical expertise and challenge to internal stakeholders and external suppliers to improve repair quality, cost control, operational efficiency and vehicle disposal outcomes. About youEssential:Strong knowledge of vehicle damage assessment, repair methodologies and refurbishment processes.Understanding of manufacturer repair standards and vehicle inspection requirements, ideally including Mercedes-Benz standards.Experience reviewing repair estimates and making commercially sound repair versus disposal decisions.Knowledge of vehicle valuation, remarketing processes and economic repair principles.Experience managing supplier relationships, KPIs, SLAs and performance reviews.Ability to audit inspection quality, repair standards and supplier performance, identifying areas for improvement.Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Understanding of relevant compliance, regulatory and data protection requirements.Desirable:Knowledge of vehicle grading standards, including NAMA and/or manufacturer grading methodologies.Experience conducting technical vehicle reviews or "Touch Metal" assessments.Experience within de-fleet, auction, inspection, repair or remarketing operations.Knowledge of vehicle estimating systems, inspection platforms and operational reporting tools.Competent user of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
