This is a unique opportunity to solve complex data challenges at the intersection of engineering, finance, and regulation, driving real business impact on a global scale As a Senior Data Engineer I in the Financial Systems area, you will help accelerate the BHFS (Booking Holdings Financial Services) program by building and scaling the data foundations behind our regulated payments and e-money services. You will be a subject matter expert driving the technical strategy for critical data initiatives, ensuring resilience, compliance, and scalability. Working at the intersection of engineering, finance, and regulation, you will enable stronger operational visibility and more confident decision-making as BHFS expands globally. Key Job Responsibilities and Duties: Design, build, and scale reliable data pipelines, models, and integrations that improve the quality, traceability, and accessibility of financial data across critical systems Own the end-to-end delivery of complex data solutions, from defining the technical strategy and architecture to deployment and monitoring in production Ensure data solutions meet stringent regulatory, compliance, and risk management requirements by implementing robust data governance and security controls Drive continuous improvement in data quality by developing validation solutions, monitoring frameworks, and automated failure detection for financial datasets Mentor and coach less experienced team members, promoting engineering best practices, clean code (SOLID, DRY), and test-driven development Collaborate cross-functionally with product stakeholders, finance, and engineering teams to determine the right technical tradeoffs and deliver high-value data products Qualifications & Skills: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or a similar role, with a consistent record of successfully delivering data solutions Experience in Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) design and modeling methodologies including building multi-layered data architectures (staging, core/integration, and semantic/consumption layers) You have hands-on experience with schema design and data modeling and working with business stakeholders and data engineers to provide production level data solutions Deep knowledge of complex SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning for large-scale enterprise datasets Experience with SAP S/4HANA data extraction and an understanding of its underlying data structures from a modeling perspective Proven, hands-on experience with at least one of the following: SAP HANA XSA, SAP Datasphere, or Snowflake Working with ETL/ELT tools and methodologies Writing and maintaining high-quality and reusable code, applying design patterns and meeting coding standards Hands-on experience with version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab) and automated deployment pipelines (CI/CD) Building data exploration/visualization and designing data story telling Experience leveraging AI-assisted tools to accelerate data modeling, query optimization, and data analysis is a plus Excellent analytical and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams in fluent English.
