Description
Role Purpose
The Data Infrastructure & Operations Consultant designs, configures and supports the infrastructure and operational services required for client data-management, integration, analytics and security capabilities.
The role ensures that environments, connectivity, capacity, access, monitoring, backup, recovery and support arrangements are documented and aligned with approved architecture and service requirements.
The consultant works with client infrastructure teams, system owners, platform administrators, architects, engineers and security specialists.
It may provision or support environments under controlled access, but client technology teams retain production ownership and operational authority.
The role must combine technical delivery with disciplined operational documentation, evidence and knowledge transfer so services can be maintained reliably after implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Assess infrastructure, hosting, network, connectivity, capacity, environment and service requirements for client data solutions.Design or support approved on-premises, cloud or hybrid infrastructure configurations.Provision and configure authorised development, test and production-support environments through client change controls.Implement connectivity, certificates, service accounts, access, secrets and infrastructure security requirements.Support installation and operation of data platforms, integration services, databases and analytical components.Establish monitoring, alerting, capacity, availability, performance and service-level evidence.Design and test backup, restoration, disaster-recovery and continuity procedures for relevant services.Maintain configuration records, infrastructure diagrams, asset information, patch status and change history.Support incident, problem and root-cause investigation and coordinate corrective action with client teams and vendors.Validate operational readiness, support ownership, escalation routes and acceptance evidence before go-live.Develop runbooks, maintenance procedures, support models and operational handover packs.Train client infrastructure and operations personnel and provide controlled transition support.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree or diploma in information technology, computer science or a related field.An equivalent combination of relevant education and directly applicable consulting or implementation experience may be considered.
Professional Experience
Typically 3-8 years in infrastructure, systems administration, cloud or enterprise application support.Experience in infrastructure, systems administration, cloud services, database platforms or enterprise application support.Experience with networking, identity, monitoring, backup, recovery, patching and configuration management.Experience supporting data or analytics platforms and working within production change controls.Experience producing operational documentation and transferring services to support teams.
