Stockholm l On Site 2 Days Per Month l Python/GCP/Agentic AI A well-established Nordic technology company operating one of the region’s largest digital commerce platforms is looking to hire Backend Engineers as part of a major platform and AI transformation initiative. The business operates a large-scale marketplace ecosystem connecting millions of products, merchants, and consumers across the Nordics. With significant transaction volumes and complex platform infrastructure, engineering sits at the core of the company’s future growth strategy. Over the last few years, they’ve invested heavily into modernising their platform architecture and are now building highly scalable, AI-enabled systems designed to support the next generation of e-commerce experiences. The Engineering Environment This is not a traditional “feature factory” engineering team. The company is heavily focused on: * Distributed systems * Event-driven architecture * High-scale backend engineering * System orchestration * Cloud-native infrastructure * AI-assisted and agentic engineering workflows They’re particularly interested in engineers who understand how large systems behave at scale and who can work effectively in environments where AI increasingly becomes part of the software development lifecycle. The emphasis is far more on engineering capability, architecture understanding, and systems thinking than specific frameworks or languages. What You’ll Be Doing * Building scalable backend services * Designing and improving distributed systems * Working on event-driven platform architecture * Solving performance and scalability challenges * Collaborating across platform and product engineering teams * Contributing to AI-enabled engineering initiatives and workflows Tech Environment Current technologies include: * Python * FastAPI * Kafka * Kubernetes * PostgreSQL * Redis * Cloud infrastructure However, strong backend engineers from any modern stack are encouraged to apply. What They’re Looking For * Strong software engineering fundamentals * Experience with scalable backend systems * Understanding of distributed architectures * Experience working in cloud-native environments * Engineers comfortable with ownership and technical decision-making * Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking ability Experience within: * Marketplace platforms * E-commerce * Fintech * High-traffic consumer systems * Event-driven platforms …would all be highly relevant.
